It’s probably wearing to try and give a shit when giving a shit gets arguably the same result as not giving a shit.

Asking the team to run around the defensive zone for no reason and getting bad results only encourages players to get discouraged. Telling them it’s their fault and they need to play even harder is even more discouraging.

Then when a player does what they want instead of the system, and it succeeds, only encourages more cowboy play and more discouragement for playing within the team.

It’s tough to give 110% when you don’t believe in what you’re doing, even if you’re trying.
I don't disagree with this at all, that's why I would have loved to seen this team with a completely new coach to finish out the year. It wouldn't be perfect, no way it could with so little time, but to be able to see glimpses of how the guys react to a new system/voice.

I could see us tying this game up, but I could also see us losing 6 or 7-0.

Bigger.... That's fine. I asked for one thing that would get us a cup. Do you think those two being healthy this year, nothing else changed, we would be cup contenders right now?
I think with those two healthy we are very comfortably in a playoff spot. And in that scenario we keep Toffoli, probably buy at the deadline to fill holes. It was going to be hard to go for a cup this year with the youth on D. It was compounded by everything else that has gone wrong, including getting nothing from the goalies.

It’s nuts that the Devils begrudgingly fire the coach only to then have the assistant run the team exactly the same.

Is everybody in coaching and management watching the team going, “Well this system that is severely flawed is working perfectly. It’ll turn around if the players just work harder.”

It’s crazy they’ve made 1 marginal change all season. Teams playing well sometimes make more changes than that.
Well this is what rings massive alarm bells for me. Talent on the ice is only one component of success. This team is never meeting its full potential if this is the kind of management they’re going to have. That’s just the reality. I’ve never seen mismanagement to this degree in this organization…it does not inspire hope going forward.

You're going to have to excuse my post from here on out...because I'm overly angry and belligerent.

Like two steps away from being asked to leave my own living room.

Because you're complaining about Shara/Zetterlund every chance you get as a gotcha moment This team would be shit with them and no Zetterlund means a gaping hole in the top 6 without Meier. No one cares for the 100th time, Boqvist is more of a player that they miss than the two you mentioned which I was mentioned the Boston castaways after your Boston point. Maybe follow along lol
I never once brought up Zetterlund and only brought up Shara around the Toffoli trade away. And keep up with what? I'm simply saying, right now with the team looking like they do, playing against one of the worst teams in the league, not having guys who go hard, like Mercer used to no matter the score, is a problem. Point to specific guys all you want, say what's a bigger issue. That's all fine, my point still stands, I'm commenting on the thing I'm watching right in front of me.

If that all triggers you into flashbacks of arguments gone by, that's not my problem, I'm sorry.

i don't think any of the goals you could really blame Kahkonen on and even if you did why waste a game off Daws waiver status

I think they're rated fine. People are in doomer mode and it's fine, but that's a good group of players. There needs to be work done on the bottom 2 lines and bottom D pairings.
The talent is there, but will they do the work it takes? No Cup winners went through a season half-assing it. I understand Jack is hurt, but others have to step. (I know Timo has finally turned it up.) Bratt has to become consistent shooter. The D is young which also will take some time. I just hope they can come together as a team, and commit to the work it takes.

Bro this team is a joke. They pulled a new goalie in his 2nd game after the team gives up quality chances?

I missed the 1st but I doubt it was the goalies fault. This is how you kill players confidence....this team is so bipolar on a game to game basis but the slow starts are always consistent.

Agreed 100%. Management clearly punted this year early because they didn't think this team had it in them regardless but they also made absurd amount of excuses.
