yeah, i agree, im not sure how anyone could watch that game and not see that Cally was a passenger on his line. a turnover machine, and simply hurt his linemates. Backes was a BEAST.

Cally was the worst player on the ice for US.

Don't think Backes was that dominant, however.

Like I said, in tighter games Callahan's physicality will be a bright spot. His PKing will also come in handy. His mind-boggling turnovers will kill them though. He doesn't think the game as well as his teammates.

Zuccarello played close to 25 minutes this game against the, man to man, best team in the world too. His sloppy play is probably attributed to that.

I just found this fantastic picture from todays game. Sidney looks like he's about to cry

Just caught the USA game.

My god was USA good. Slovakia didn't make it too hard for them though.

McD is just incredible. There's not much he can't do.

Callahan had a great game in the offensive zone. All that extra room below the hash marks worked well for him, and he and his teammates maintained some awesome offensive zone time. His skating impressed me too, I didn't expect him to keep up with the speed quite as well as he did. He didn't make it onto the scoreboard, but he, Backes and Parise showed some real "get up and go" on some shifts.

He struggled in the neutral zone, and on the breakout, though. Be interesting to see that progress through the tournament. He's probably not going to be involved in many fly-up-the-ice Patrick Kane-esque goals, but that line he's on could be a nightmare for teams on the forecheck, and against stronger teams like Russia and Canada where there won't be quite as much room, that may prove to be crucial.

The USA and Canada teams are both set up for another really nice Olympics, and all the main board crowds can do is quibble about which players are better, and which ones sucked.

Trade Cally before the deadline. Hopefully he plays better in the rest of the Olympics and doesn't hurt his trade value too much over the next few weeks.

Make Zucc a Ranger for life.

McDonagh = Monster.

Still wish we had drafted Fowler.

pretty sure Parise-Backes-Callahan is meant to be the shutdown line. Backes and Callahan played together in 2010 (w/ Langenbrunner?) and while Parise is known for his offense, he's such a solid defensive player. I can see this line causing all sorts of head aches for the opposition and if they ever do connect, it'll be against the other team's best lines so, bonus! The other three lines were just all clicking today so so far, not a bad game plan.

I'm so pissed. I got 23/25. I missed Juris Stals.

I also typed in Michal Rozsival like 20 times because I was pretty sure he was an Olympian to no avail.

When I ran out of time, he was one of the answers. They spelled it "Michael Rozsival".

Should've gotten 24/25.
Oops.

If you would've just type Rozsival, it would have worked. I even added it so Roszival would work. But yeah, the Michael screwed things up.

Oh, that was you who made it? I kind of feel bad for being so angry now. Kind of.

Don't sweat it. If a spelling mistake in a game like that sets you off, potentially hurting my feelings should be the least of your concerns.

Sooo, the Czech goaltending looks even worse than anticipated. Their best option could be to go with Salak from here on out.

Jeez, Zetterberg is out of the tourney. The Finns are without their top 2 centers in M Koivu and Filpulla and now Sweden are without our top 2 line centers, Hank Sedin and Zetterberg.

I saw Russia play against Slovakia. Who can rule anyone out in a best of 1 set-up, but they are just not effective in any way. They have 6-7 players of the type you can afford to have 1 of on a team.

Everything points towards a US-Canada final.

A few things, the set-up we see right now is a great lottery. Nothing will separate the top 3 teams from each other, besides goals scored. Anyone could end up playing anyone, the QF's are key's for the US and Canada. No matter how good you are and how good you are looking, the QF can be extremely tough if you play a capable nation that has struggled and hence has no pressure on them. Maybe the Finns are a bit weak, maybe not, but it can be a nightmare for anyone to play the Czech or the Finns, or why not the Swedes or Finns, in a QF. All of a sudden 30 minutes are played and the score is thight.

What do you make of Norway v Finland today(tomorrow morning)?

Do we have what it takes to cause an upset, despite losing one of our most experienced backs yesterday?
