The Olympic Ranger Thread

Well its his teammate, and I'd assume that the only reason Nash stayed for the interview was because of Zuccarello.

Olimb was easily player of the game for Norway. Kunitz is a dirtbag.

What ruffles my jams is that you cant actually stick up to teammates with these rules without being penalized. Makes for very anemic defensive hockey

In my opinion Mathis Olimb was by far the best Norwegian player. Tollefsen also better than Zucc I think.
 
Olimb by far the best for Norway yes. Dissapointed by Zucc, but he still makes the good plays that should have given at least a goal.

Crosby was close to invisible.

Zucc was trying to do too much. Norway was outmatched physically and on the forecheck. They did move the puck well, but Canada kept the pressure on. Good game from both teams despite the skill disparity.
 
Trying to do everything yourself on a lower ranked squad against the best roster int he world is a plan destined to fail. But it's hard to do much else when you know you're the only top league forward on a roster.

I see Grabner was up to his usual shenanigans for Austria today.

yeah, i agree, im not sure how anyone could watch that game and not see that Cally was a passenger on his line. a turnover machine, and simply hurt his linemates. Backes was a BEAST.
 
As a curiosity for the aftermath of Norway - Canada..

This goal by Norway was the first we've managed against Canada in an Olympic setting in 30 years (not scored against Canada in the Olympics since a 1-8 defeat in 1984).
 
Yeah was a good game by the Norwegians. I believe they'll beat Austria and stay in the tournament for another game.

But Nash and Zucc didn't impress me in this game...

Cally was not good today, but I didn't see Backes playing as well as you mentioned.

Coupled with the fact that he was ****ing whining all game long. Kept staring at the refs for penalties every time he fell down. pansy

Canada did not impress me on the whole. Other than their little 30 seconds of fame for each of their goals, they didn't do enough to warranty winning the game by that margin that the scoreboard shows...

Nash is useless, Crosby is a whiner, Kunitz is a dirtbag

I get why Zucc had a hard time being the most dangerous forward by far on a serious underdog team playing a powerhouse. Nash, I have no idea. The whole Canada offense looked oddly out of sync.

True. Zucc tried to do too much, but he played well on PK, blocking shots, worked hard all over the ice. We just need to be better on face offs and develop better centers.
