Jamie Baker was pretty good on the morning show the other day. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Steve Lloyd in that spot imo. Doesn’t take much. To be fair to Lloyd it could just be a right fit kind of thing. But he ain’t it is all I know. He’s good in pre and post game shows.

Lloyd and JR are both hosts. It’s like having 2 PxP guys covering a game.

preferred Simmer. Bakes is too vanilla... The whole morning show is too vanilla now. The only good thing about it are the spots when Johnson or Poulin come on

Pretty pumped for this. He's better than anything left on 1200.

Best guess as to the co-host? He illuded to it in another tweet earlier today. Guy needs someone to keep him grounded and on track. Simpson ranting/freeballing into the mic for an hour at a time unedited will get old pretty quick imo. Who can 'reel' him in enough to make for a good podcast?

Ugh.
Lloyd is painful on the morning show.
JR is flexible in that he can host and play “color guy”, though Simmer was a perfect fit as the color guy with him.
The conversations were generally interesting and free flowing.

Lloyd is just a square peg in that slot, I really don’t find he brings anything to the table. He has a generic host sense of humor, prevaricates on every sentence out of his mouth - he also can’t help himself from saying “right?” constantly.

I’d rather listen to JR and Hamer alone.

Okay, so I had to google "prevaricate" as a result of this post.

Well done.

The staff cuts, the continual dirt cheap promotional prices, the move from a high quality journalism standard to having some staff who put out stuff that is Sun Media quality, and the economic slowdown we're heading for.
Didn't know things were that dire for them. I thought they were owned by the NYT, doesn't an NYT subscription include access to The Athletic? Or do they depend on independent subs to generate revenue?

To say nothing of the addition of advertising into their model, which pissed off day-one users who were sold on the concept of a paid model specifically to avoid said advertising.

Thank you AJ
You’re saying what I want to hear as a listener. Dial not changing.

It's nice they are actually taking callers
Yep it's nice to hear other people go on and on for a change!
Some pretty informed callers making solid points for the most part.
A nice addition to the program.

Anyone else catch that first caller who essentially charged Andlauer with becoming a new Melnyk because he had the gall to fire the general manager, and because he insulted 'hockey royalty'?
Yeah, he was upset that Andlauer said anything and that Staios should be doing all press conferences.
