Tribute The Official "Fire Tortorella" Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
The WORST possible coach for a young team. He just ran off two of the young forwards with any kind of skill, is constantly at odds with Michkov, York on the outs, Andrae gets sent down despite being a top 4 on this team, has publicly undressed Brink (who probably has PTSD). This is how we nurture young talent in Philadelphia.
It’s how you create culture /s

So York calls out Torts and Pelletier says he had to go bitch at Torts for more ice time. Like we didn't call the mutiny when Torts was hired.

I'm moving this post here because it is more apropos

I don't have a link but apparently Chris Pronger was tweeting back and forth with Charlie O'Connor calling out Tortorella on his bull shit and lack of communication with a player on why he was scratched. The coach who publicly spoke on valuing communication and trust with a player and building a relationship with players and transparency, doesn't tell players why they're scratched. It has happened multiple times with this coach. I knew pretty much as soon as Tortorella was hired that he was a bull shit artist and an archaic coach that the game has long passed by. Hopefully he is on his way out. His hiring from the get go was a brutal mistake by this organization. One in a long line of many

Bring on Dave Carle, but keep Shaw around.
Brad Shaw is an extremely overrated coach. He needs to go also

Pronger and Briere were teammates on the Flyers. Pronger's mentioning that the York situation resembles the one with Couturier last year indicates that CP has been following things with the Flyers. If CP is chattering, I'd have to believe that it's not falling on dead ears with Briere.
Tortorella's constant habit of the players thrown under the bus is detrimental to the future of the club. For a club that is short on skill, having blowouts with former first round DCs is lethal to the future of the organization. Frost may not be an AS but he's a competent player at a position where the team has little to no depth. The same is true of York. Obviously from what has been said by Farabee post trade, he and Torts were not exchanging Holiday greeting cards. Then there's the farcical treatment of MM by Tortorella. Guys aren't immune to seeing what's going on with each other. They know that they could well be next in line for shabby treatment from the coach.
The players get benched "in order to teach accountability" but the coaching staff faces none. How about some accountability for Tortorella being 96-102-32 during his time here? Or Rocky owning up to having the worst PP in the league for each of the least three years? This clown show needs to be sent packing ASAP.
The Flyers are losing the city's interest. Today for the second time in two weeks the Inky had no column about the Flyers. This is after having a match the night before. Comcast needs to wake up and either intervene or sell.

John Tortorella has completely lost the room. Since the trade deadline moves were made the Flyers have potentially ended their season. Tort's lost the room early in the season, and the players were competitive for a while, but they are just putting in time on the ice now.
Briere and Jones have quite a task to do in the off season. They need to replace John Tortorella and his staff. They must not hire Shaw as Tort's replacement, Shaw is Tort's II, and they mustn't award the job to Lappy.
The Flyers need to hire a younger coach with a system that works in modern hockey.
They also need to continue making player changes. Rather than hiring worn out has-been players because they're less expensive, Briere needs to make serious changes to what was the core of this team. I also think it's time to buy-out Sean Couturier, his contract is way too long and expensive as hell, and his affective career is virtually over. The Flyers need to move on from the Coots era by paying him to stay home.
He's about as affective as Bryz was at the end of his Flyers era.

I'm not ready to put Couturier in a casket. First of all what sort of offense in Tortorella employing and does it take advantage of the skills that the players on the team have? Secondly, Coots has never been a burner on the ice but his long strides get him around the rink. Tippett has speed to burn but does very little with it in the over all flow of the game. When Michkov is on the ice with Coots one can see that he is one of the few Flyers that can keep up with the way that MM sees and plays the game. His hockey IQ is way ahead of many of his teammates.
So let's pump the brakes on ditching Sean. If he looks bad after bringing in a new coach with sensible systems of play, then it might be time to consider doing drastic things. We're not there yet.

"Accountability for thee but not for me" might as well be the team's motto. It's been that way since Hakstol at least, probably even longer.
