The guy doing my LASIK looks a lot like Torts. Just greyer. Someone talk me off the ledge??
"I don't use any imaging scans in my patient's eyes because I just don't look at that kind of stuff. Either you can read the chart or you can't. That's that."

A quote from today's Inky column on the Flyers:
"Tortorella said that he misspoke when he said Ersson was an option against the Panthers. “We have a plan for Sam, and we’re going to follow through with it, so that’s probably my fault. … The way I look at it is that he’s been practicing full with us, that’s when I consider it an option. He’s still on IR, him and Jamie are still on IR, but there is an absolute plan for what we’re going to do with Sam. What that is you’ll find out as we go through it.”
This doesn't sound like chatter from the mouth of a person who is in control of things the way that he likes too make it seem. He probably wanted to use Ersson against the Panther but someone jerked that off of the table. Could be the medical team or Briere/Jones. Whatever. Tortorella is not in on the plan with usage of the goalies or for that matter other players as well.
This is how the end of the line starts with Tortorella. It went this way with NYR and CBJ. He starts to go above his pay grade and gets cut off. He won't tolerate that since he is a control freak. Eventually he'll force a them or me decision. Look for more friction between him and the rest of the organization in the future.

Think you're reading way too much into this.

Ersson is a medical staff decision, probably got an optimistic assessment, then a correction a couple days later.

They don't interfere with Torts game lineup decisions, where Briere comes in is decisions who to call up and send down, b/c that impacts the Cap, waiver issues, etc.

I'm sure with someone like Drysdale they discuss short-term v long-term, Zamula is better right now but they have to find out whether they can fix Drysdale or have to move on, which means you have to play him at some point.

I don't think so. Tortorella obviously wanted to play Ersson. If there is, "there is an absolute plan for what we’re going to do with Sam. What that is you’ll find out as we go through it.”, then Tortorella knows what that is. Tortorella was going to jump the plan because he wanted a possible win.
This "plan" that we'll find out as we go through it, is a bunch of nonsense. If the plan was to be able to play Ersson Thursday, then he would have played. Since he didn't, it wasn't the plan. (Notice that Kolosov, not Ersson, is starting today in Boston) Ersson is not/ was not ready to play Thursday night. Torts is up to his usual stuff in trying to go over his head in determining what goes on with "his" club.

This guy has no idea what's going on.

Of course he wants to play Ersson after seeing the other two goalies in action.

But activating players off injury isn't about strategy, it's about a "rehab plan" to ensure he's 100% and won't re-injure himself. Nothing "sinister" here.

Michkov had two goals in 3 minutes of ice time in the 1st period and Torts made him disappear. He only got one shift in OT despite his benching of Konecny and the lack of firepower on the team. He is letting his anger cost the team games more than a stupid penalty.

Players have the excuse of actually being on the ice getting their head knocked around. John Tortorella has no excuse for his antics.

The unspoken part of his preseason quote is that he would let the kids be creative and take risks ... and then sit them for the rest of the game.

Torts might be the #TopSecretTankCommander after all...
