While Ryan Malone was Mashed Potatoes, at least he was made from scratch. Bryan Rust came from this:

C'mon peeps, this has been the case for 5-6 years now. Gotta be lots of pent up frustration and disappointment. Yinz can do better! Rise above mid. No holding back.

Stringer Bell: That's good. That's like a 40-degree day. Ain't nobody got nothing to say about a 40-degree day. Fifty. Bring a smile to your face. Sixty, shit, n*ggas is damn near barbecuing on that motherf***er. Go down to 20, n*ggas get their bitch on. Get their blood complaining. But forty? Nobody give a f*** about 40. Nobody remember 40, and y'all n*ggas is giving me way too many 40-degree days! What the f***?
Bryan Rust: [a few minutes later when Stringer is done talking] We on that shit like a Forty Degree Day!

ok but he was mid when he re-upped and quite a few people on this board were pulling their hair out that they re-signed him, even if it was at a perceived discount.

Yeah, he's mid. But he's been mid. He'll always be mid. I wish they hadn't given him a NTC so that we could move him for a (mid) pick

This does not look mid. There's about 5 other forwards that come to mind when I think of "mid" before Rust

Is he a 20/20 guy not playing with the top centers he's been afforded to play with?

Top it off only playing 50/60 games a season.

If there is a player living off of the talent around him it is mid-level Rust. Why do you think he took less to stay. I would have rather another team overpay him, and he went, and Guentzel stayed.

Yeah, the idea of him being the model Penguin is infuriating to me. Everyone knows the model Penguin was Kris Beech.

This is why I hate stats- they are a limiting part of the story.

Tell me Rust isn't a guy who floats around most of the game and bc he happens to be playing with some talented C's he doesn't get opportunities.

Dude is the epitome of a franchise that believes it can rest on its laurels and not try for what they did nearly a decade ago.
