With their win today Ottawa passes Montreal. Habs fall to 7th place in Atlantic with Buffalo only one point back.

Still 13th in East. NYI are 1 point back. CBJ I expect to finish last in East.

It's insane that we'd only pick 11th OA. West is absolute trash. Hopefully some teams can pick it up, like Edmonton, Nashville, Seattle & Calgary.
I don't know what's going on in Ottawa. They have all the pieces to be very good. Must really just be coaching.

Bottom 3 is pretty much San Jose, Chicago and Columbus. I don't see any teams out sucking those 3.

The Habs are now 3rd last in the conference and only 1 point ahead of Buffalo who have a game in hand. The west is extremely weak this year hope when the bottom dwellers play each other that they are 3 point games.

I am hoping to keep falling in standings. This isn't a good team, we need the pick. With Dach gone what little hope we had for decent season has vanished

How the hell is Buffalo still this bad my God.
Stench of losing, it's hard to powerwash off. It's a huge problem which tankophiles refuse to admit exists. There are so many negative externalities to losing that it is hard to justify doing it for a third straight year like we are.

On the other hand, this roster is not sufficiently deep to justify trying to salvage the season and make the playoffs. We don't have the horses. Suzuki is our most complete player and his 0.89ppg would land him about the same as last year (tied for 79th) in terms of PPG in the NHL.

You can't win a thing when your best player is 79th in the league. Might as well swallow the bitter poison and get through with this season.

They used two 1st overall picks on dmen and their 2nd overall on Eichel, who they then feuded with. It will take some time for them to build back up their forward corps. But I think Benson will help long-term.
