Pretty unlikely we catch the Flames. We are bound to lose at least 2 of these 4 games and the Flames won't lose 5 in a row when they play the Ducks, Yotes, and Sharks again.

vs Ottawa: Could go either way. Ottawa is bad, but it's their last home game and they already beat us twice this season with a combined score of 10 to 3

Vs Detroit x2: Battling for a playoff spot, so Detroit should bring their A game. I think we will win the last home game of the season though.

I have a little hope. We have the Islanders once and the Red Wings twice and both teams are desperate for points. Ottawa's 14-5-1 against us over the last 4 seasons so hopefully they can keep that going this Saturday.

Yes, I didn't have a good feeling about the Flyers game going into it.

But I'm optimistic about the Isles, Sens, and Wings being able to beat us. None of these are automatic losses. But I'm hoping Detroit and the Isles can use their desperation to get it done.

When our first line is going and our goaltending is good, we can beat these teams though.

Really the Ottawa game is the tank.

If we win that one, we won't be able to finish lower than them. At that point it'd just be about avoiding Calgary.

If Calgary can win their game in hand, though, I think that would effectively end that possibility as well.

Let's say they go 1-3-1 (3 points) then we need 7 points to pass them so we will need to be 3-0-1. At this point it's very unlikely we pass them. If they win two games against Arizona, SJ and Anaheim then we will need to win all our games to pass them. Also them losing against Arizona means Arizona has more chances to pass us. Our game against Ottawa will be the more important game of the season. Losing that game makes it very unlikely we draft outside of the top 6.

Top teams will take a break and rest players. Detroit will likely be a toughest opponent than teams like NYR or Boston. Detroit did not bail out like Flyers. What happened yesterday was expected for anyone who followed the Flyers for the last month or so. The team clearly bailed out. Detroit is still fighting for it. NYI will be a tough opponent too one win against us almost guarantee them a playoffs spot. Lyon has been good this season so both NYI and Detroit have solid goaltending.

Ottawas style doesn’t really work with us, we always struggle with it fully expect to lose that one.

They would be dumb not to. I mean they are two wins away from pretty much a guaranteed spot. Best for them to ice Sorokin against us and get the win and then rest him the last game of the season.

I do it by not looking at the schedules with any expectations one way or the other.
I simply don't trust anything in this portion of the season.
I've seen good teams going into must wins against crap teams and come out on the wrong end.
They played tight while the nobodies relished the spoiler role.

The thing is there's not such thing as must win for top teams. Yes they want to finish 1st but not at the cost of gasing themselves out before the playoffs. Hockey players are not dumb. We have all heard about that team who finished the season 18-2-0 and finished 1st in the NHL to then lose in the first round of the playoffs cause there was no gas left. Top teams will take it easy and rest players no matter the situation. The playoffs is what really matters for them.

Oh but we are the one facing those teams. We face NYI once and Detroit twice. I tought you were saying we had an easier schedule because we face those teams instead of NYR or Avs or Boston.
