Unless the Yotes win the lottery, they are taking a dman so I don't really care about them. BJs are the real threat given that they will take a forward. If they pass us, we are in good shape to draft one of the 3 forwards unless someone above us wins the lottery.
I don't trust Ottawa not to puke all over themselves and take the other forward when everyone and their dog knows they need a d

They might given that Norris might be done, Giroux is old, and Tarasenko is gone. That being said Chabot has been really bad, and Chychrun isn't going to stay with them and they have nobody else besides Sanderson.

We nullified the CBJ point lol argh

At this point though, it's hard to get upset, the deed is done really, top 7 pick is exactly what we needed to wrap this retool up

The disaster would of been battling for wildcard, the disaster is if we were 14th right now

People are just basically on edge about the F vs D stuff and it's fine, it could be worse, some real great options at both

I trust these bosses man I really do
Offseason is more about who are we successfully getting RID of more than anything for me

(They're drafting F btw :D)

The only reason we need to move up to #5 is to get better odds for the lottery, but it's really not that significant of a difference.

Imo, 2-12, any one of those players will be fine:

Sam Dickinson, Artyom Levshunov, Berkly Catton, Konsta Helenius, Tij Iginla, Ivan Demidov, Cayden Lindstrom, Zeev Buium, Cole Eiserman, Carter Yakemchuk & Zayne Parekh. Obviously people are going to have preferences, but I don't think we can go wrong with any of them.

Silayev is the one player in top 10 I don't want to draft. Everyone in top 13 should get a good player. There's a significant drop-off after 13.

Celebrini is far & away the best player.

There is no way to know who teams will take. Although Anaheim may have been willing to move Drysdale because he is a glass body and because there are a lot of good d a the top of this draft to replace him.

After bringing back a point we shouldn't have gotten, we do the same and got a point out of Edmonton. Won't have an opportunity to lose that extra point until we play Seattle on Sunday.

It's kind of crazy how they called the rebuild over except they lack real depth. Personally even without Norris, they still have Pinto & Greig down center. They're a little weak on wings, that position is usually the easiest to fill. They'd be tremendously stupid to pass on the Ds in this draft.

They idiotically blew 3 firsts: the one they traded for Debrincat, in what was a pretty good draft (imagine they drafted Korchinski instead of Chicago?), then blew another 1st on Chychrun in what was an even better draft (they could have taken Benson, Honzek, or Perreault, etc) then the Tyler Boucher pick (lol) in another good draft.

Dumbasses.

Need to move as high as possible so that HuGo can draft the player they want. At 5 they might get the player they rated 2nd or 3rd.

I want the habs to become a D machine. So big, tough, smooth skating and able to score. Considering D men play 20+min/game why shouldn't the top4 D be the highest paid on the team?

If we cant get Cellibrini or Lindstrom, why not add to our riches with Levshunov or Parekh?

Well, that scenario where Ottawa had 5 games in hand on Montreal and would easily pass us is long gone. They're down to one game in hand and are 2 pts back, which means they can only "pass us" via the tie breaker.

Montreal is one point up on Arizona. Same games played. They are back to 4 pts up on Columbus, and Habs have a game in hand.

you have a 12 game stretch in there starting tonight with us only getting 5 out of 24 possible points? (now 4 of 22)
I think that's where the chart will break...
But hope it is correct!

Remove these 12 useless points and we're fighting for a bottom 3 finish right now, super frustrating. The NHL is a bush league that rewards losers.

Today's loser points are the past's ties.

You get a so-called loser point because you tied the actual hockey game. Then the team who wins the gimmick gets an extra gimmick point.

Tonight we earned the point for tying the actual hockey game. Then, we failed to win the extra gimmick point.

But actually, our position in the standings is inflated because of all the gimmick points we have - we have 10 extra points from winning in the shootout and 3 on 3. The teams below us have between 3 and 6. If those were ties like in the old days, we'd be 15 - 31 -22, instead of our current record of 25 - 31 - 12.

The Habs have been a loser team for the past 30 years and it will continue for the foreseeable future.
I hope people realize when we will fight for the playoffs, those loser points won't come as often as teams will take us more seriously and we will also play against team's #1 goalies.
As usual the other teams will pick up the big prices. While we end with Silayev.

It sounds like they should trade Chabot and not Chychryn. But is there a market for Chabot?

At least they're on track to get a really good player in this year's draft.

I want them to tank like you guys, but in a way, I can't be too mad for 2 reasons. The first one, this team is battling hard and it's a good omen for the next years. The second one, the draft is wide open from 2 to 10, maybe even 12. It really is.

I want Demidov or Lindstrom because I still think we need offense first but I would love any of Dickinson, Buium or Silayev. I wouldn't mind Levshunov, Parekh, Catton or Eiserman either, because they have so much potential. Basicially, it's hard to imagine we will draft below 8th overall and any of these guys are in the same tier.

I know the earlier, the better and I understand the frustration (I'm rolling my eyes every OT too, just like you!), but it's not the year to be too angry if we draft at let's say 8.

I never had a doubt in my mind it would happen. I posted as much. The sale of the team and the 180 on the ready to compete now did it.
Nothing like giving a lazy team more reason to be lazy. The one time we did out tank them we selected KK so that was on us. :help:

If you aggregate all the list Silayev probably comes out rated 3rd at worst 4th so acting like he is a consolation prize is a bit crazy

It's hard to tell at this point how many IDGAF games we will get.
For example if Detroit falls out of it they certainly won't be playing highly motivated hockey when we face them.
The teams that are currently solidly placed can also take a night off at any time.

now I am less stressed, because after last year's draft I'm not sure they would know what to do with a top 5 pick anyways. At least at 7-10 they are probably smart enough to take BPA and not draft by position, one can only hope

That's why all year I have been less gung ho than most about tanking. I have no confidence they won't screw it up. Can you imagine having three horrible seasons where we somewhat tank but they just get mild guys. Maybe we should have kept Lekhonen and the rest of the boys. lol
