Maybe Anaheim will go on a run. They certainly have a roster capable of it, but no one seems to get hot simultaneously. Their top six is better than ours. Their goalie is better than ours. Their D is relatively similar but obviously Matheson is far more impactful than Fowler. They don't have a Nick "top 10 in NHL center scoring when you remove guys who play wing but are listed as centers" Suzuki though.

The ones who have turned on this regime and Marty very quickly.. how fast we forget how bad things were.

The ones who have already turned on this management group are just conspiracy level actors who assign negative causality to to any one that is in power who are not part of their echo chamber.

It will never change and has nothing at all to do with merit and objective analysis.

Losing culture has also ingrained itself after closing in on 10-years of being a bottom dweller. Their young core players have never experienced a playoff race let alone actual playoff intensity / play unlike Habs core of Suzuki & Caufield being key contributors during a run to Cup finals

They won the division 7 years ago and went deep in the playoffs. They only really stopped being competitive for the playoffs a couple years before Getzlaf retired and they only bottomed out last year and in 2021. Zegras may seem like a top 3 pick but they got him 9th and Mintyukov 10th. It's hard to fault them since McDavid plays in their division. There's no point in even trying to exit the rebuild early. Better wait for him to walk to free agency. Vegas also is a perennial contender and Vancouver are hitting their stride. They've basically been rebuilding as long as we have. Luckily when we got a 9th overall pick who exceeded expectations we traded him for Drouin. And instead of getting a McTavish at 3 we got a Kotkaniemi.

Nothing will equal the absolute turdiness of the Gallagher signing. Nothing.

Desired results for tonight:

- OTT OT/SO win vs. WSH: OTT win moves them 3 pts ahead with 2 games in hand. WSH with a loser pt move 11 pts ahead.
- NYI win vs. DAL: NYI win moves them 10 pts ahead.
- SEA win vs. BOS: SEA win moves them 9 pts ahead.

*MTL will remain in 27th place (Bottom-6), but OTT with a chance to create some separation, while SEA and NYI, who are 7 pts and 8 pts ahead of MTL, respectively, and WSH, who are 10 pts ahead can also create more separation. But the more immediate result needed is OTT win.*
