beautiful tank night in every way!

we need to extend our skid a bit longer to get to that all important #5.

Calgary and Seattle now 5 points up... so some nice separation there

sens 1 point back with 3 games in hand ...so #6 is looking promising!

..now if those f***ing yotes could win some games that would be swell..

hell, and even Columbus is within 6pts! :)

Yes, and they have 2 games in hand.

I don’t want to have to post here next season though, I mean JFC is this ever painful.

I agree with this.

It's laughs for us and "easy" to count the losses and think of the draft.

But it really must suck for the players. Players like Suzuki and Caufield I'm sure are done with being this bad.

I'm fully on team tank for this season, but I'm done after that. I want to see some return on investment starting next season. I know there are still really bad contracts on the team (Gallagher, Anderson etc), but I'm hoping the team is more competitive next year and not suck at the bottom again.

I expect HuGo feel the same way and we'll see a different type of offseason this summer.

That is the general vibe around the organization.

This is it for being at the bottom (now they could still end up picking high next year) but they aren't going to be looking at things from an asset accumulation perspective, it will be how to trim the fat and bring in more pieces, support that is geared toward winning hockey games.

I know they had a certain expectation this year to do better than last year and in many respects they have, but they are still down at the bottom of the league.. but when you lose Dach in period 4, it put a lot of things out of whack, for a team that had been gutted for a rebuild, there was no one to properly and adequately make up for that loss.

This will be a lot of fun next year though, we'll have a top 8 pick on offense in the system.. Hutson, Reinbacher, Mesar, Beck and Engstrom will all be in the AHL/NHL. Dach will be back. It will be year 3 for Slafkovsky. The defenseman like Guhle and Xhekaj will take another step.

It's allll depends on what they do with Dvorak this summer honestly

Nothing - Habs beat writers have made it pretty clear that the interest in Dvorak around the league is basically nothing.

I think we have no choice but to try to squeeze a good season out of him, let Beck simmer in the AHL, and go from there.

f***ing Bergevin man, it is truly amazing how many turds he left.

Yup, sadly Dvo is going nowhere , but only 1 year left
So AHL for Beck bit I assume it's gonna be a quick call up lol

We see how good of a piece Monahan was by looking at this team since he's been gone.

Would be great to re-sign him if we can get up on a contract that Hughes thinks is appropriate. Unlikely though he could be our Savard of the forward corps.

Biggest game of the season for the Habs so far. Best case scenario is Buffalo OT win?

I would even prefer a Columbus OT win. They would be 4 points back of the Habs with a game in hand and Buffalo would be 3 points up.

I want that Top 5 pre-lottery spot.

The more the younger player start to be inserted in the line up and be productive, the more our team will progress.

Our real A+ prospect are Reinbacher and Hutson. Until they are in the team, we can't really know what our team is all about. The biggest problem right now is we have nothing after the 1st line.

Add to this team a semi-elite Hutson ( taking in consideration he adjusts well ), a good Mailloux (I feel like after this year he should make the jump ) and the return of Dach, It changes the completion of our line up completely. If we find a way to bring in another young propect that could play right now (Turcotte, Zegras, Kakko, etc) then we should be a little better next year.

Even then, expectation should not be that high because of growing pains. I feel like next year should be our last misery because. The next year, Reinbacher, Mesar and Farrel should integrate the line up and with all the assets we have, we should make a pretty big jump. It's also the year we should try and target a UFA.

We have two retention spots left for next year. I could see Hughes using one or both of them on trading one or two of Armia, Dvo, and Allen in the summer. They're taking away development time from the youth. May be better to just cut the losses in the summer, instead of keeping them on the roster all year, taking away ice time from the youth. But it's what we've chosen to do with Drouin, Hoffman, Dadonov, Pearson, Armia, Gallagher, and And Allen. It's a lot of deadweight to watch game in and game out. I would have liked to have seen the buried in Laval. Although the vet may not like it, I prioritize youth development. And after having to watch so much of their washed up play, I would enjoy the fact that they don't like it.

DVO will most likely have a strong year next year being a contract year. And yea, I think he’ll suddenly find some offence hah.

That said, development is key here. Let Beck marinate for the season in Laval. We got used to seeing players get rushed under Bergevin. The Detroits and TBs were notorious for using the AHL. I think success for us will include a similar path
