Winnipeg wins & Monahan finally scores. Jets at #27 in draft, and actually closing in on the division leader Dallas. They're 4 pts back with 3 games in hand.
Great night for our pick in the draft

Bad night for the Jets 1st. Really hoping they can still fall and not pull a Panthers of 2023. We first need them to at least not win the division, if not fall into a wild card spot at the hands of the Blues. And then we need them not to get out of the 2nd round. Plus Moneyhands had a good game last night - not good, I want him back next year on a low cap hit, low term deal.

Big loss for the habs last night. It's a tight race from 5-15, the losses against other bottom 10 teams are massive right now. we needed that loss because capitals were coming on really cold as of late, and I thought for sure we were going to get the win.

that said, I think this is our last year with a top 10 pick, and I expect us to be a wild card contender next year.

habs vs sabres
habs vs pens
habs vs devils
habs vs coyotes

these are all winnable games for us. a 1-2-1 or 1-3 would be great for this team.

Yeah, I say Monahan for a late first which is likely nothing to be excited about is not a good trade. Jets are ptty much guaranteed to make playoffs so hope they don't go far. Hell, I hope non of canadian teams do. I don't like any of them.

Not a great trade? You weren't getting much more for a rental of Monahan, his injury-prone nature assures teams aren't offering the farm for him. A late 1st is an awesome return but theres always room to complain amiright?

I'm rooting for Calgary to stay in that just moss the playoffs range - this year and especially next year. In fact, it may be better if they make it this year so they don't tank next year. Give them hope they can make it next year, amd them miss.

If the Kets first managed to make it to 20th to 22nd overall, I'll be very happy. 23rd or 24th would still be good. 25th amd beyond starts to get late. But hopefully Hughes can package it for something nice!

Lol... another Newhook?

Before his injury he scored at a pace of 25 goals per 82 games - without Dach for all but 2 games. I'm certainly excited to see if he can pot 25 next year. If so, he'd be a great piece - especially at the price of Ben Chiarot and a 2nd.

The next big top 6 piece should come with our 1st this year. I already like a top 6 of Caufield, suzuki, Slaf, Dach, likely 2024 1st, and Newhook. But I think Hughes like to flood every position with potential pieces, as we see with the dcore. So looking forward to what pieces he adds in addition to the pick with our 2024 1st.

Games are early today.

Coyotes @ Avs: I expect a 9th straight loss for Arizona. They have 2 games in hand on Montreal, so they'll be down to one game after tonight.

Kings @ Pens: Pens are only 3 pts up, but they do have 4 games in hand. A point would be nice.

Yotes and Avs both score and have it called back within a couple min for offside.
These linesmen are trash apparently.

You were expecting this dogshit welfare franchise to do something useful for once weren't you?

Maybe next time.

Edit: Coyotes are so inept and useless even images related to them are cursed and can't load properly.

Edit 2: Looks like the image is finally showing, better late than never.

Big day for the tank today with games throughout the day.

Ducks at Sabres - Buffalo needs to win to move 2 points ahead of us, OT would be a nice bonus. We'll be even in games played.

Canucks at Wild - A Wild win would be nice, that'd put them 6 point up on us, tied in games remaining.

Detroit at Seattle - A Kraken win also puts them 6 points ahead and tied for games played.

Oilers at Coyotes - Yotes have to win eventually! A win puts them tied with us in points but ahead based on the Regulation Wins tie breaker.

Jets at Flames - A Calgary win would be huge, puts them 5 points up, we'll have a game in hand.

Sens vs Lightning - A Sens win puts them 4 points back with 3 games in hand.

No real hope at this point for the Hawks (playing the Canes) or Sharks (vs the Knights) to catch us but no complaints here if they win
