There's something REALLY wrong with this Stanford team IMHO. Can't figure it out. They should be nowhere near the top 25 though, they're collapsing now that they no longer have Harbaugh's recruits... like when Michigan no longer had Rich Rod's recruits.

also there's jake butt. first i laughed because his last name is butt. no i never grew up. then i laughed when i learned he was from columbus and went to michigan. then i stopped laughing because he actually played a good footballers game

We went to the same school and were in the same graduating class. I only played football for a year since I decided I liked hockey better, but it's cool knowing him. Good player.

Jim Tressel was recruiting him to OSU but when Meyer took over they didn't really see him as a priority. Probably not a wise decision.

Considering the next game is against Florida, I'd certainly say it's possible the players were looking toward that game and thus, this Towson game could have been a "trap" game.

what kind of moron players would be looking beyond their first game.

Well that depends. How many colleges schedule a "cupcake" opponent as their first game of the season?

Take that amount and assume most of the players for those colleges are looking past their first game.

i think you underestimate how many players are dying to get back on the field for that first game regardless of who it's against.

you'd see way more first week upsets if what you're saying is true.

Agreed. I mean mind you there's going to be much closer then expected games in the first week for a lot of teams every year. There's a lot of rust and what not that needs to be worked out as the season goes. But prettymuch nobody should be overlooking their week 1 opponent. It's another matter entirely if you're talking about playing something like Weber State in week 4 with Oklahoma the following Saturday.

Yup. I totally buy overlooking a mid-season cupcake scenario like you just gave, but week one? Nah.
