upsets happen. doesn't mean anyone was being overlooked.

you don't find it possible that a pretty good fbs team playing a pretty bad fcs team that i had to google search just to figure out where the university was, could have possibly overlooked them because of a looming game on the road against an sec team that has won two of the last nine national championships and who also beat us in our bowl game last year?

Upsets usually happen because the favored team underestimates some aspect of the underdog team. Most teams are favored in a match for a reason, especially in cases like Michigan vs. App State. So when upsets like that happen, it usually means the favored team overlooked the underdog.

how do you explain the gong show of a game we had at Lane Stadium last year? We blowed them up and went up 21-0 in the first 5 minutes, then sucked when they started to play and they tied it, but then we won anyway

In the case of Appalachian State vs. Michigan, the Wolverines were built on size and strength. We were built on speed. Many of our biggest plays were simply our guys just outrunning theirs, while their biggest plays involved us getting run over. Both teams seemed to lack the other characteristic in spades, so I think that's part of the reason why we won. Michigan played Oregon the following week (before they were a powerhouse) then Notre Dame back when they sucked. I don't really think they overlooked us so much as they didn't just match up that well. We probably could have given a few Big Ten teams a tough game that year.

That's racist. Same with Illinois being the fighting Illini. I call them the fighting Peoria instead.

it is terrifying that osu was missing the majority of their receivers and a top 5 nfl draft pick on their defensive line

braxton miller at wr/hb/wherever looked really good and it is completely unfair that their backup qb would be starting on 99% of p5 teams
