It was weird, I liked the actors, thought the previews looked great. Then I started watching at I thought it was hot garbage, took me 4 tries to get through it all.

Ah, I thought the idea of the movie was so interesting... I couldn't believe it was based on a true story

I watched it on a plane. It was ok. Just a whole movie of continuous facepalming. Depends if you're into that sort of thing.

How difficult is it to learn how to do backwards crossovers? I got put on defence last game in spite of my own warnings, and we ended up letting in our fewest goals against of the season, so it's likely I'm put back there again. I feel kind of silly with the way that I skate forwards, looking over my shoulder, while defending. I was thinking I could try to learn how to do backwards crossovers during warm-up and get better a game at a time. Is this feasible or does it require a lot of intensive work?

From my understanding, one or two quick crossovers are great for an explosive first step, or taking a turn, but the way to skate fast backwards is to keep both feet planted on the ice, and imagine yourself carving little c's into the ice with your skates. Similar to how Letang skates here:

As hard as it is to sleep at night, I take this weather every time over crappy Winter -25C. Loving the heat so far.

At least in Alberta it isn't in the 35-40 range.
Rain here later this week and temperatures in the mid to high 20's, which is good, because the fire situation is starting to get out of control. Evacuation alert issued out on the native reserve west of my city because of a fire near the ski resort.

But yeah, 35ºC > -25ºC (even if we never get down to -25 here :))

Oh yeah you're in BC. Yeah 40c with your humidity would suck.

Yeah those forest fires are getting crazy. I have a friend who is a logger who snapped me some pictures of the sun blotted out to a little red disk. Scary stuff, hopefully they start to die down..

My girlfriend and I bought an AC unit yesterday because our living room and bedroom both get various amounts of full sun during the day and have become unbearable. This is the first summer we've had at this place, so we weren't aware of just how hot it becomes when you get continuous sun for a while. But I'm in Victoria, it's certainly a lot better than inland.

Well, the humidity isn't too high. When it's that hot it's in the 5-20% range.

Hopefully. Campfire ban was just issued today for the entire Kamloops Fire Centre (Okanagan/Thompson area). Considering I help run a firewood business, this is really bad news.
