First "couple" of months? It's amazing how uninformed people are. It's like a game of telephone.

Great season preview write-up of the Rangers over at Shutdown Line.

Not bad--apart from listing Nash as a LW--at least he played more as a RW for us last year and Kreider as a RW when he's definitely a LW.

I don't think Callahan or Hagelin are going to be out to December either--early November at the latest--very much likelihood both will be back before October is over.

The Rangers IMO are going to try to make a couple moves--depending on how Kreider, Miller, Lindgren, Kristo, Hrivik and Fasth turn out. Pretty much think that the numbers game doesn't look too good for Pyatt, Asham and Powe and they are not going to be with us for very long--perhaps Asham will hang on just because he's a decent fighter. I like the additions of Pouliot and Moore. I expect both are going to provide some offense and Moore plays with an edge is an excellent pk'er. As well from the interviews and videos Moore seems very motivated. Not worrying about him--he's going to be a very good player for us.

Our defense is deeper. It does lack a real pwp qb--unless DZ finally starts racking up major points and it does lack some nasty unless McIlrath shows up to take away a spot.

Obviously it would be in the Rangers best interest if Kreider were to develop into the player he can be.

I don't think that giving a player struggling mightily more ice time is a failsafe way of accomplishing that.

I've made this point several times before, but in the 19 AHL games before the season started he had 1 goal and 1 assist. Tortorella wasn't there. But his struggles are still Tortorella's fault.

1. This is a guy we grabbed asap without any pro experience who went directly to college. And he's being told not to do what he has always done, use raw talent to overcome, bc that will not fly at NHL.

A modicum of slack is not unreasonable.

2. Don't take my word for it. For 2nd time, as RB said earlier, to effect that CK did not merely have a bone bruise, deep or otherwise, but something more serious -- wanna say floating bone chips, but could be wrong on that, from memory. Also from memory, to extent possible, he tried to play through this instead of complete shutdown.

A reasonable period of recovery, given the above, was in order.

3. I don't blame Torts for anything CK did in/at AHL. I blame him for what he did at NHL w/all the players, including CK, who was misused up here on 4th line.

What are the plans for Micheal Haley? I believe he will have a one way deal this upcoming season.

roster lineup from the fine writer of NHL.com is still fixated on Torts  Can't wait for the entire season of the endless comparisons and remarks stemming from the coaching swap.

"Ryan McDonagh
Already a burgeoning star, his offensive numbers could take off with Alain Vigneault in charge instead of John Tortorella. It's also less likely McDonagh will miss the tournament after breaking a bone blocking a shot."

When did McDonagh breaking a bone happen?

Its September 1. Summer is almost over. 1 or 2 more days. Traverse City begins Thursday. You would have to figure the players for Traverse City will report to NY by Tuesday. Five day tournament. Rangers camp starts next Wednesday. First day on the ice is next Thursday. First preseason game is two weeks from tomorrow.

Damn, I like to see the guy fight.

Yeah he srrved up Bickelband had a key role in Mario's favorite game, the Isles/Pens rematch a couple of seasons ago. Could def serve on the 4th line if need be, has speed and is a bag o nails. I like him over Asham esp at 600k.

Zuccarello posted a photo on instagram

Looks like the Rangers players went away for the weekend. Probably the Hamptons.

John Moore,Carl Hagelin and Brad Richards in the back row.

Michael Del Zotto and someone sitting closest on the TV.

They're playing a video game.

id keep Asham and Haley over Powe who makes 1.15. at least Asham still can score a little bit and has some grit.. Powe just has speed and nothing else. pretty useless...

I generally like Asham but i thought he coasted a bit last year, didnt really provide that momentum changing spark that guys like him are called upon to make now and then. Does have a nice shot as you say.

i doubt anyone is scared of Asham or Dorsett. its a shame Pyatt doesnt fight much. i was hoping Rangers would have gotten Boll in that Jackets trade. been a fan of his...

With the "GUYS NIGHT!!!" caption, that photo is only an "I love us!!!" comment from Brad Richards and Hagelin "Zuuucc I miss ur face!!!" away from being a pretty stereotypical sorority girl photo.

We're getting close :yo:

Heading into the year, I kind of want the kids to influence the spirit of the team. We're always such a "keeping within ourselves" type of a team with the leadership here. Torts's serious business approach deterred some of the energy of on ice celebrations, Cally, Girardi, Step, McD, Staalsy, Nash, Richards are all fairly controlled in their on ice mannerisms. Richards looked like his parents were held hostage and would be met with tragic fates if he scored. The players who were the standout celebrators were Anisimov, Dubinsky, and Gabby, if I'm not forgetting someone. All of them are gone. Derick beings some of it back but I think this team could use some of that.

As a team, wonderful things can happen when you're having fun and allowing yourself to be unrestrained. I follow the Avs and their group has been one of the youngest and most energetic. They've had some furious comebacks and show of spirit and energy in the past seasons. It would be nice if we could also feed off of energy and spirit instead of always having to grind our way to a slightly tilted ice.

Pretty certain it's Brass based on the fact that those are the group of guys who have been hanging around the training center, and my eyeballs tell me it is. Moore was harder to get for me, weird angle or something. Besides isn't Cally married now? Simple laws of marriage dictate that it can't possibly be him.
