The Nicest Guys in the NHL

It seems every team has that gig who never misses a charity event. Dillon, Ferraro, and Dellandrea are three for the Sharks who are always doing something for people.

nicest collective group in the NHL are the NYR defensemen....they give you the puck whenever you want it, and would never want one of their shots to hit the goalie. Opposing forwards want to hang out on the top of our crease? No problems there....our guys will create an open path for you. If you hit our goalie? Well, you might get a polite request from them refraining to do that, but they understand that mistakes happen.

From everything I've heard Sidney Crosby is about as nice of a guy as they come. He goes out of his way frequently to do things for fans, especially young ones. He does a lot of un-publicized charity and hospital visits as well. Just one of those kind of guys.

I read somewhere that no one has ever heard Mark Scheifele use a curse word

I think Slavin as well.

There’s a Slavin interview where he talks about the one time in college that he said the f-word during a game. He still has a super specific memory about it and feels bad for letting it slip.

I’ve spent enough time with the guy to say, he’s a top-tier nice guy and good human being. He’s one of the very few who leads from his principles and then walks the walk without being a hypocrite or putting on a face for people.

Jared Spurgeon finally gets a topic with this one!
At this point he's a cliche. I like to think that in secret, he is a criminal master mind that has been casting an evil shadow over the world, while pretending to be the world's nicest human. Perfect cover story.

George McPhee's a good dude.

Was up in Toronto for a Caps Road Crew trip in 2003, hit the HHOF for a visit, was in the Stanley Cup room and was standing back 'cause we hadn't won it (YET). Other folk milling about and another guy stands up against the wall next to me. I glance over, it's GMGM. I've got a Caps hat on, I ask "not getting near it?" he says "Not 'til we've earned it". We nod, smile, and that was it.

He also took on the whole of the Chicago Blackhawks singlehandedly in '99 after they dressed goons against the Caps in the preseason game. Got a month suspension for it and lost a good suit but man, that's what you want from an executive.
I covered McPhee when he played on Rangers. He was always nice. Easy to talk to. Most of those guys from the 80s team were awesome

Years ago during the Blackhawk dynasty I saw Toews at a restaurant in Chicago. He was with who appeared to be his brother and his dad and lots of people approached him throughout the night. He was gracious to everyone and even took pictures to the point that the manager had to stand in the way of the table just to let the man eat.

As he was leaving, my mother tapped him on the shoulder and told him we were huge fans and he hung around to talk with us for a few minutes. All of us were incredibly impressed with him. Kane on the other hand...

More than a decade ago our high school team travelled to Ottawa for a tournament and we had the chance to watch the Senators' and Rangers' morning skate.

Henrik Lundqvist was nice enough to sign autographs for a lot of us after he finished the session, and Ruslan Fedotenko came near us to tape his stick and talked to us for a bit and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. I remember one of my teammates asking Fedotenko if he was gonna fight someone tonight and he simply said, "Nope, that's not my job".

My was at a hockey camp last summer and met Tyler Myers and both Schenn brothers. They all talked to him a fair bit, and all skated over to him the next day to say hello. I was super impressed by how kind all three were.

Reaves. Such a nice guy. He even apologized to Nurse after nearly killing him with that head shot. What a role model.

Not an active player, but Ken Daneyko has a voice that screams a monster, but is one of the friendliest, down to earth dudes I've ever met. Al MacInnis was the same.
First player to come to mind. Really great guy, we hung out at a hotel bar and he was showing me all his fights on his phone.

Also met Dustin Byfuglian he was a really nice guy.

Most people won’t know Denis Hamel, mostly ahl guy but he was a great guy as well.

Massive disagree. He ended at least one player's career in the NHL with a dirty hit (Despres). Not sorry at all about his current situation.
Well yeah, he’s a nice guy off the ice I mean
