I posted this last week but for many years I’ve split my viewing between the Avs and Flyers. Some years it would be more Avs and some it would be more Flyers. Never has the discrepancy been more than it was this season and last.

It’s aided by having an almost two year old son now and having less free time but that obviously doesn’t paint the whole picture.

This was the first year my schedule was a little more adapt to watching hockey. But even then there were nights I skipped it. I went to a few games free because a few friends were looking for a replacement to go with them or they just wanted to dump the tickets and write them off as tax returns.


But my schedule will probably be opening up even more this coming year, so it sucks with the direction of this trash bag organization.

Exactly. He's the new Giroux in that they're hoping to build in time before his window closes but won't be able to. They still haven't learned their lesson.

I wouldn't call Couturier's contact bad until we see how he performs when he comes back. If there is any drop off it could get ugly but there was nothing wrong with it when he signed it. There's also nothing wrong with believing they should have traded him to get younger instead.

When you consider that he's going to turn 30 this season, already has had back surgery, and the Flyers are years away from contending, it's a bad contract. It's the Giroux scenario all over again. I should add Atkinson to my list as well.

I don't think they are. Pretty sure it's been reported that it's a management decision with the Flyers, though I can't find a reference to it so take my addled memory with as much salt as is needed.

I’m not sure about the actual Captain but I think the A’s are at least decided by the players (ala MacDonald). The actual Captain may be determined by the organization though because of “reasons.”

I believe everyone thought Coots was the next C in waiting, even when G was here. Of course it depends on his back recovering. I do agree with the statement that Hayes would not be a culture change, and Torts wants it to be his room.

They've invested so much marketing and PR into Hayes that it would be a surprise if they don't make him the C.
