One upside of Torts, he'll (hopefully) call out some of the shitty vets who constantly nail it in like Hayes and Fisto.
No, no. He's going to help Hayes reach the next level and be dominant. Somehow he's going to increase his skating speed, teach him not to hog the puck, teach him not to take bad lazy penalties. The outlook is not positive....

Hayes, Risto, Tippett, MacEwen, and Seeler are the sort of braindead no-substance morons that Tortorella can't stand. They're also Fletchers favorite sorts of players.

This is quite a union.

You think Giroux would even entertain the idea of coming back to play for Torts? He would laugh his ass off at the idea, especially after the way it ended here.

And yeah, you gotta love the fact that they wanted to make a big splash in UFA this summer but made that extremely difficult by re-signing a total scrub defensemen due to sunken-cost fallacy.
I have no idea on the first paragraph. Not really the point.

I have less of an idea what was going on with CF vis-a-vis Ristolainen. If the Pens, Rags, or Devils pulled a past one and somehow managed to infiltrate the Flyers’ front office for a day in order to make the Ristolainen trade, related Ghost trade, and re-signing, they could have caused more damage than CF did all by himself.

Why would you give up a 1st pick just to get rid of JVR? He stinks but he could score 20 goals for a cap floor team, esp. if you eat part of his salary.
The best best best case scenario is retain 50% and dump for a 7th. JVR is slower than miss daisy at this point in his career.

Now whole 7m? Well we could offer a 2. Oh I forgot Fletch trades 2's like a crack head.

Torts came across pretty genuine about his interest and approach. Ive been saying for weeks, this team is going no where unless the current players here improve/get back to form/develop correctly. I think his approach to getting these players back on track through a balance of good comunication and pushing them is the right approach to have for this roster. Torts seems more willing to build bonds with his players than AV and Hak...and I like that about him.

All of the above has to happen... and I think he might be successful at it. However...we really didnt get much about what this finished product will look like. If get gets the players back on track...will his actual system be good enough to take this team anywhere... that id what im skeptical about.

One upside of Torts, he'll (hopefully) call out some of the shitty vets who constantly mail it in like Hayes and Fisto.

He actually went on for a minute about how big a piece Kevin Hayes is to this franchise (Chuck got aroused), how much more there is to him as a player, etc.

Fisto doesn't mail it in; he just has the hockey IQ of Mongo, so who knows. He'll block shots, probably get in good graces. Kevin Hayes? 100% a lazy player. Which is why my favorite line of the press conference was: "Can you imagine the impact on a locker room when they see Kevin Hayes block a shot with a minute left to win a game?"

LMAO at people just eating up coach speak at an intro press conference - as if anything he says is going to actually come to fruition.

Did we learn nothing from AV? People always say what they think you want to hear when starting a new job.
I wonder if Barry Melrose had a good presser before his 16 games in tampa.

Would love to go back and find it but i'm sure he said all the right things and had the same "I like what i'm hearing" responses from people lol
