I always think of it as a Phil-Lizzy tune.

When they asked Phil how he felt about being Black and Irish he replied "Like a pint of Guinness"

Gary Moore and Kirk Hammett share a part of guitar history through the "Greeny"

Time for some Dire Straits....

Remember when their first album came out (1978). I initially thought it was Dylan!

The following year, Dire Straits embarked on their first North American tour. They played 51 sold-out concerts over a 38-day period.[25] "Sultans of Swing" scaled the charts to No. 4 in the United States and No. 8 in the United Kingdom.[24][26] The song was one of Dire Straits' biggest hits and became a fixture in the band's live performances. Bob Dylan, who had seen the band play in Los Angeles, was so impressed that he invited Mark Knopfler and drummer Pick Withers to play on his next album, Slow Train Coming.[27]

Romeo and Juliet is the greatest love song ever written*.

There. I said it. And it's true. When I saw the Brothers in Arms tour, the biggest applause was when Knopfler came out with the resonator guitar because every person in the audience knew what was next.

*Followed closely by Oh Yeah by Roxy Music

Great song. Had it on repeat many a time.

Eno has a new album, as you probably know,

Saw an interview with David Bowie once, he said if he could be anybody else in the world, he'd be Bryan Ferry. The man is cool personified. Saw him at the Pavilion a few years ago, and he's still cool, even in his 70's.

Yes.

And they were rivals in the early 70s as well.

Like David, Roxy Music had great visual style. Also like David, Roxy paved the way, and inspired, the advent of Glam.

Well, he was out of a job. There just wasn't room for those two egos in the same band.

And then Eno works with David.

Life is an ironic thing.
