Here's another new artist if anyone is interested.......Saw these guys recently, when they opened for Iggy Pop. The Steens is the name of the band. If you like fuzzy guitars, give them a listen.

So I debated throwing this up here since I come for the Bruins talk and all, but at the end of the day, us artists are all pimps at heart  My band released an album this last Thursday. It's a blues/americana/blues-rock kind of thing. I do all the lead guitar work on it, and sing lead on a couple of the songs. If this genre is your jam and you like it, give it a listen, a follow, and a share (and if you really like it, you can buy the album off our website). Or, since this is HF, trash the shit out of it like it's a Don Sweeney veteran signing- you get thick-skinned if you do this long enough :D

Hey thanks for sharing. Loving Alone in a Country song. Nice work!

I will have to share the Workshop...Not on Spotify but beautifully recorded on our cell phones lol. Stay tuned.

And now for something completely different. For the last few years I've been drawn to this genre music...Hope you enjoy.

If you enjoyed Depeche Mode, New Order, Beta Band, Love & Rockets etc. you most likely will dig this stuff.

Saw Peter Frampton tonight, the man still has it! Glad to see his medical situation improve enough for another tour. You'd never know by his guitar playing that he has had such a rough go of it recently.

I remember when Frampton Comes Alive (1976) was released. It was the best selling album of the year, which is impressive given that it was a double live album.

I'm sure Peter would have found his way by himself, but David lent a hand,

PS Peter refers to mutual childhood friend George Underwood.

Bowie has Underwood, a life long friend, to thank for his permanently dilated left eye, which some mistake for a different eye color.

Bowie attempted to steal George's date. Underwood punched him in the eye. They were both eleven years old, I believe.

Sir:

You are a fine guitar player! Clean, melodic, articulate picking.

Keep truckin',

Thank you! I appreciate that very much!

Well deserved.

I am not an instrumentalist -- I was a lead singer in GB bands for years -- but who are your influences?

Curious.

Without inundating, perhaps check this brief, lovely solo from Concrete Blonde's James Mankey,

I imagine the music biz, notoriously among the scuzziest of the lot, has changed immensely since the advent of the Internet. I also imagine Spotify doesn't pay you guys a penny.

Forward.

Ha, Spotify pays us less than a penny per stream LOL, a good bit less. Music biz is still scummy, but since it is a lot easier to be an indie artist, you can stay away from most of it. My own biggest influences are the Allman Brothers (Duane, Derek, Trucks, Warren Haynes, Dickie Betts), Jerry Garcia, and so on. I have unashamedly borrowed from many, many great players :D

This is a solid list, especially the Husker and Mats live albums. I also like the Drive-By Truckers, with and without Isbell.

Some of my favorite live albums:

Ramones - It’s Alive
The Clash - Live at Bonds
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Live at The Rainbow
Jane’s Addiction - The Head Shop (Milan, Italy)
Johnny Thunders - Too Much Junkie Business
Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers - Live at the Fillmore 1997
Bob Dylan - At Budokan
J Mascis - Martin and Me
Iron Maiden - Live After Death
Unwound - Live Leaves
The Pogues - The Pogues in Paris
The Police - Live!
Nirvana - From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah
The Beach Boys In Concert
Mastodon - Live at Brixton
Guided By Voices - Live from Austin, TX (Bob gets hammered, as is his way, and some of the songs suffer because of it, but it’s a pretty good representation of the band - the setlist is great)

There are many more but my brain is fried.
When the topic of live albums comes up, the very first one that comes to mind every time is Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan. Probably because I had it on vinyl and just about wore it out.

That actually remind me, we are seeing Cheap Trick, opening for Rod Stewart, at the beginning of next month.

I've told this in here before - When Cheap Trick were at their lowest point, before The Flame saw them reemerge on the scene, I saw them play a chili festival in NYC. They were on a flatbed truck at the end of a big alley where the festival was going on. Regardless of the venue, Cheap Trick rocked that alley like it was Madison Square Garden.

LOL. The pride of Rockford, IL. They are a staple of State Fairs throughout the Midwest. If they are touring with Rod, then it looks like some of these fairs are going to have a hole to fill this summer/fall. They're actually a lot of fun to see live.

I wonder if REO Speedwagon, or Styx are available to fill in.

I can hear the Allman Bros. influence.
