I saw X last night. Maybe I'm just not into slashers. I'm kinda shocked it's part of a trilogy.

Scavengers Reign.

12-episode X 30 minute American sci-fi anime TV series. Light on plot, heavy on high quality animation and heavy +++ on world-building. And a pretty impressive set of body horror insertions throughout, that's kind of the main setting planet's r'aison d'etre. Bit of a thinker, but more of a pure visual entertainment, very happy to have had it suggested to me.

Saw Poor Things yesterday. It’s even weirder than The Lobster. I enjoyed it but it can belabor the point at times and probably would have been better had Lanthimos cut 20 minutes. Stone is absolutely brilliant and I'm sure a frontrunner for an Oscar, and Dafoe is grand. Stylistically, it happily steals from Burton, Wes Anderson, Jeunet & Caro, and Lynch, blends all of that into a bloody pulp, and then dials it up to 11.

Everyone's comfort level for familial awkwardness resulting from watching sex on screen together is different, but strong recommendation not to watch this with parents and/or children; I'm quite glad I didn't go see this with my college-aged cinephile / Lanthimos superfan daughter.

Also, if you haven't already, go watch Anatomy of a Fall. Hüller should also be a frontrunner for Best Actress.

Really enjoy Yellowstone and loved sicario. So when I went down the rabbit hole and decided to watch Wind River—wow. Incredible crime drama with the lesser avengers and the lesser Yellowstone cast.

I watch Mayor of Kingstown. It’s made by the same writer (Taylor Sheridan) of those shows/movies. Not saying it’s of the thought provoking variety but I enjoy it. Same with Tulsa King.

Well...saying this sheepishly but on New Year's finally broke the seal and watched Shawshank Redemption. Don't ask why I waited so long....just one of those mental movie blocks.
