Prime cut is another Hackman movie you might want to check out. Has Lee Marvin in it too.I never watched Mississippi Burning...good film. Dafoe and Hackman were really good in it.

“Mayfair Witches” and “A Discovery of Witches” are both terrible. Couldn’t find a good witch show; f***ing ticked
The first 2 seasons of Penny Dreadful are worth a watch if you want an elegant mix of highbrow literary and lowbrow gore in a Victorian setting. The second season is specifically based around witchcraft.
Frankenstein's monster? The acting was standard was pretty high across the board. It's been a few years since we watched Penny Dreadful, but the thing that still sticks out to me is, that guy that played the monster should have won an Oscar for pretty much every episode he was in.
I’ve watched all of season one and part of season two of A Discovery of Witches and liked it. Ymmv I guess.“Mayfair Witches” and “A Discovery of Witches” are both terrible. Couldn’t find a good witch show; f***ing ticked

@Beef Invictus Godzilla Minus One is what Casablanca would be with a better writer, better director, and better cast.
on my list to watch before Christmas
Expected a bit more from Napoleon...but it was entertaining enough. Battle scenes were good...the rest mediocre.
The trailers are hard to judge...they show their choice snippets and if they seem bland, the rest of the movie usually follows. But I like period pieces and the cinematography was good. The storyline and Joaquin Phoenix was mediocre though for sure. One of my favorite "alternative Christmas movies." I don't watch it every year but probably every other.
Really? It looked bland as f*** from the trailers lol
Three things struck me when I watched the trilogy somewhat recently: (1) some of the dialogue, especially the banter, sounds out of place, (2) the CGI looks horrible, (3) the elf fight choreography is badLOTR looks so dated. I might be officially old.
I can’t stand Joaquin Phoenix so I may not see it even though I am a sucker for historical shit like that.
If you want to see him not taking himself seriously, watch 8mm.I like him less and less over the years. Takes himself way too seriously.

Imagine all these years with his brother instead. F***ing tragedy.

Apologies to whomever originally posted -- and if you know who you are, let us know -- but do not miss The Holdovers (2023). Especially at Christmas time.
I mentioned it upthread...yeah I thought it was good.
