Was that you? Did you mention Paul Giamatti? I was aware of the film and positive critical reaction to it, but the post piqued my interest.

If so, thank you. I hated Sideways (2004) for various reasons, and have been leery of Giamatti since.

The Holdovers cured me of that. And helped with some other ailments.

Merry Christmas,

Do so. A less complicated world and therefore a haven of sorts.

Funny, with heart.
Yup, mentioned him as well. Both the movie and him. I agree that he did a good job. I am not typically a fan of him. I always remember him as pig vomit in Howard Stern's Private Parts.

“Mayfair Witches” and “A Discovery of Witches” are both terrible. Couldn’t find a good witch show; f***ing ticked
See if you can find Ken Russell’s The Devils, based on Aldous Huxley’s great book, The Devils of Loudon. Some possessed nuns and depraved priests too.

Trailer;
Extended scene with the great Oliver Read:

Listened to Adam Driver on the Rich Eisen show and he talked about how the original plan for Kylo was to have the reverse arc of Vader in the original trilogy. Vader starts off super powerful and committed to the dark side and ends vulnerable and weak. Kylo was supposed to start vulnerable amd weak and end super powerful and committed to the dark side.

I am so disappointed we didn't get to see that trilogy. Booooooooo.

Every decision they made after TFA (and some during) was wrong. Pretty amazing really for life-long die-hard Star Wars to f*** it up so badly.

Spring 2024 but for real 2025....

California and Texas joining together in a secession? Talk about FANTASY

From the trailer it certainly looks like the 'rebels' are the good guys or 'less bad guys' in this one since the US President is bombing civilians.

Yeah ..I think the director is trying to make it as fictionalized as possible in an election year....

Never saw A Prayer Before Dawn till tonight. Frightening shit....Thai prisons are no joke. Real Thai prisoners cast in the movie by the director gave it a serious real feel.

Is this the live action version that's got a season out already?
Nah, Wit is an animation studio. It’ll be an anime called “The One Piece”

The anime by Toei is pretty dense with filler and the animation in older episodes has aged poorly. An update makes sense

I finally bit the bullet and bought a Criterion sub. Why did I not do this before?

@Captain Dave Poulin Today I watched a Czech New Wave movie about a cat who has to wear sunglasses or else everyone's true feelings are revealed. I sure as hell don't need tv anymore.

He would like this one.

Yeah most decisions during TFA were terrible, and there wasn't any way for the next two movies to fix it. The most grievous mistake was deciding to involve JJ Abrams, who had telegraphed he was no longer interested in trying by making that "Tribute" (aka, lazy-ass mail-in) to Wrath of Khan. He ruined it from the start and finished stabbing the corpse for the finale.

TLJ was the only worthwhile one because it actually tried to do something new. That original plan would have been very superior and more interesting.

Holy f***, Bezos. "Daisy Jones and the Six" is the kind of vomit a dog wouldn't eat.

Amazon maintains it's 0% record. But it's my own fault - I knew it would be terrible. Then I heard someone say that it "starts cringey, but gets interesting." The f*** it does. I have to get through four more eps, for f***'s sake.

Christ, what a formulaic turd of a movie, if the trailer is indicative of it. But, mostly:

Enough of the Andy Serkis or Andy-Serkis-like facial expressions on simians

And double-mostly:

ENOUGH OF KIDS BEING IN ACTION MOVIES. Stop Speilberging!

started on the Christmas shows..started with Charlie Brown of course and now have Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas going
