HAPPY BIRTHDAY! The most disgusting day in Red Wings history. No wings captain has ever requested a trade in team history.

Your response to your phrase being called overreaction theater is to go further into overreaction. Good call.

And man, you're like Joe Buck when Randy Moss mimed mooning the crowd after a touchdown. "A vile, disgusting act".

Nothing Dylan Larkin does tarnishes the entire legacy of the Detroit Red Wings. He'll be a complete nothing-burger footnote of history after he's gone and everyone will just remember Yzerman->Lidstrom->Zetterberg and then the Wings sucking for a decade.

Like, does anyone remember Danny Gare or Reed Larson or Dan Maloney? No, the Wings sucked then.

But they sure remember Howe and Delvechhio.

It'll be good for the Wings to move on from Larkin because he clearly fell apart as a leader under the stress of carrying a shit team into being a mediocre team.
He embarrassed himself and the franchise in our f***ing 100th season! Instead of working his ass off this summer TO BE BETTER HIMSELF this little bitch just wants to join the NHL best and take the easy way out. f*** him.

I don't know how you could enforce it... but this is absolute bullshit that a guy can be like "TRADE ME NOW... but you know, not there."

No-Trade protection ought to be for preventing a team from trading you against your will... not for you to use as a cudgel.
The new CBA should say NMC and NTC are VOID if the player requests out! Period! Its to protect the player from being shipped anywhere. Not to weaponize it against a team to force yourself to only 3 teams. This POS did this to his f***ing hometown team wearing the C on his jersey. This is all-time IMO. Zero hyperbole. He is scum for this!!!

And some of you are still defending this POS. Completely handcuffing the Red Wings. Worst captain in franchise history. Worst leader in team history. You were the captain when the team missed the playoffs. Yzerman yes he has been bad but he DISAPPEARED when it mattered for years. We missed the playoffs barely and he gave nothing in the clutch. Dylan Larkin is a f***ing coward and a joke.

Ahh, Nathan Murdock. Where I go to get all my unbiased, hard-hitting sports analysis.

I get it, you're pissed off. But the infinite repetitions of, "Larkin is the worst human on the planet" isn't actually moving the dialogue forward, let alone reaching any productive conclusions.

The interesting parts are how long it takes to reach a deal, and what the return is. The moment that happens, Dylan Larkin will have zero place on my radar for the rest of my life. But there's an enormous range of possibilities for how I'll feel about the Detroit Red Wings, depending on how this trade unfolds.

Friedman touched on this, he said in a future collective bargaining agreement the league may try to remove no-trade clauses.

The players will get everything they deserve: a hard cap, no trade protection, a longer wait until free agency, at some point the maximum salary will likely be further capped since the owners can't stop themselves from paying to hold onto top talent. That Kaprizov contract will likely be used as a cudgel.

Slowly but surely they will have given up everything previous generations fought for, while the league expands and the owners collect all those franchise fees.

The crazy thing is I kinda of feel sorry for Larkin for the simple fact he embarrassed himself. He will regret this one day like Commie and Raycroft said when he matures...He f***ing quit and want to join a Stanley cup favorite. Like you're such a little bitch lol.

I'm not asking to give him a pass. I'm saying that tweets within the first week of all this going public are zero indication for how it will conclude.
When do these things ever get better as time goes on? They only ever get uglier as time drags on. If we're already at the point of leaking information to play the pr war things are going to get hostile.

And the overreaction theater continues.

Maybe instead of declaring certainties about the trade outcome based on a handful of initial social media posts, none of which are coming directly from the team or player's camp...we give it a week or two and see what actually plays out.

If by the draft Larkin is still insisting on just a few teams and no progress has been made, then he's an idiot and I'll join you in roasting him. But maybe touch grass for a bit and give it a chance to see how it unfolds.
Overreaction theater? The captain of the Red Wings abruptly and out-of-nowhere demanded a trade.... ........

...largely because the GM can't put together a roster.

So even if Larkin was the worst human being on the planet, he's not the biggest problem the Wings are facing. Dealing Larkin potentially sets Detroit back a few years. If Yzerman remains at his current level of incompetence, enjoy another decade of irrelevance while wasting the rest of Seider's career.

And this is likely the first of multiple players asking to switch teams around the league. The new NHL will see a lot more of certain players wanting to play together and being a lot more aggressive about it than in the past.

I wonder what the reaction would've been if we found out the GM was looking to trade Larkin like the many Wings fans wanted him to after the season. I'm not surprised by the reaction since being rejected is worse than doing the rejecting.

I'm of the opinion on reserving judgement of Yzerman until after the trade...

Just like we weren't with Dylan Larkin leading us to nowhere fast.
That wasn't the point of the tweet though. It was mocking Duchene for asking to be traded but they weren't going to win without that trade. Larkin is a POS but it we turn around and win you can't throw it in his face for asking to leave because we weren't going to win without a shake up.

For all we know, Yzerman may have been softly shopping him without Larkin even knowing. I am 1000% sure that the thought had crossed Yzerman's mind.

Reminds me back in '98...
