Also off topic this is why I left restaurants and run a kitchen in a nursing home. It's a bit less money but there's so much less drama and turmoil. It's also way more rewarding making someone's day there than some drunk buffoon.
I'm currently attempting to shift into event bartending. Money would be good, and I would avoid the restaurant atmosphere. I agree it's toxic.

No most people are not jumping to that. We're all well aware that's the nuclear option. We're saying he's screwing us over and we're going to get hosed on a return.
Literally wouldn't be surprised if he leaves the nastiest messiest way possible. To tell Steve Yzerman you are requesting a trade, the guy that named you captain, he obviously wants to complete f*** over Detroit in the process...

People thought that would be the case with Martin St Louis situation. Yzerman did pretty well in that scenario and St Louis was only wiling to go to the Rangers.

Half this roster is empty jerseys!
Actually, understanding some of the response from guys like Seider... I think McClellan is part of the isue. I think he too openly to the media bashed his guys. Even if he did it in private first, the team clearly didn't respond to being called out in the media. Which tells me that they don't respect the man.

Like if I'm loafing in a game and the coach singles me out? God damn it, I might make some mistakes, but I'm gonna try my ass off for the foreseeable future.

Also, Even though it will take some doing to replace a top 6 forward like Patrick Kane... I think the Wings might be further ahead not bringing him back. Kane can coast and still produce. However, you have the kids on the roster who grew up watching and having him as their favorite player and they're not that skilled. They have to be grindy PITAs and it gets difficult to hold young guys to be grindy PITAs and take that beating when you let old man winter dipsydoodle on the perimeter.

Glad you finally came around lol. Dylan Larkin is scum for this. From D-boss to D-bag...

I can be both upset with Larkin AND Yzerman. I don’t blame Larkin for being upset and wanting out. I’m not happy about the way Yzerman is running this team. That said, a team captain running away is a bitch move. And that he only wants to play with his USNTDP buddies is also a bitch move.

And the overreaction theater continues.

Maybe instead of declaring certainties about the trade outcome based on a handful of initial social media posts, none of which are coming directly from the team or player's camp...we give it a week or two and see what actually plays out.

If by the draft Larkin is still insisting on just a few teams and no progress has been made, then he's an idiot and I'll join you in roasting him. But maybe touch grass for a bit and give it a chance to see how it unfolds.

Dylan Larkin embarrassed himself and the entire legacy of the Detroit Red Wings. He WAS the Captain. He gets zero passes from me for this disgusting cowardly act.

I'm not asking to give him a pass. I'm saying that tweets within the first week of all this going public are zero indication for how it will conclude.

Imagine going in a time machine back to the 90's in the midst of our glory and saying one day Steve would be the GM and a guy he appointed the next captain that's born and raised in Michigan would request a trade out of an original six team in Detroit and provided a list of 3 expansion teams! What a clown this kid is.

Your response to your phrase being called overreaction theater is to go further into overreaction. Good call.

And man, you're like Joe Buck when Randy Moss mimed mooning the crowd after a touchdown. "A vile, disgusting act".

Nothing Dylan Larkin does tarnishes the entire legacy of the Detroit Red Wings. He'll be a complete nothing-burger footnote of history after he's gone and everyone will just remember Yzerman->Lidstrom->Zetterberg and then the Wings sucking for a decade.

Like, does anyone remember Danny Gare or Reed Larson or Dan Maloney? No, the Wings sucked then.

But they sure remember Howe and Delvechhio.

It'll be good for the Wings to move on from Larkin because he clearly fell apart as a leader under the stress of carrying a shit team into being a mediocre team.

A lot has been said about the empty cupboard, the bad cap situation, and the legacy contracts for mediocre players, but Larkin is another example of just how tough a task Yzerman was faced with when he took on this project.

You look at a team like Montreal, and they've made good strides sure, but they also started their current group with a pre-existing centre who scored 100pts while winning a Selke this year at 26 years old. So like a Datsyuk-level guy, at least on the surface.

What was Yzerman's one prize asset in a mountain of sh*t when he took over? A centre who struggles to crack 70 points, who is a terrible leader for that particular room, and who consistently folds under pressure.

If we added Seider and Raymond to a Suzuki-type rather than a Larkin-type, pretty good chance we're not in this position right now.

So considering everything, I'm actually happy about this. For as many reasons as there are to criticize Larkin for this trade request, and how he's carrying himself through the process in terms of his 3-team list (lol get f**ked, Dylan), he's also doing us a huge favour in the grand scheme of things. We're better off in the long run moving on from this chump.

I don't know how you could enforce it... but this is absolute bullshit that a guy can be like "TRADE ME NOW... but you know, not there."

No-Trade protection ought to be for preventing a team from trading you against your will... not for you to use as a cudgel.

And some of you are still defending this POS. Completely handcuffing the Red Wings. Worst captain in franchise history. Worst leader in team history. You were the captain when the team missed the playoffs. Yzerman yes he has been bad but he DISAPPEARED when it mattered for years. We missed the playoffs barely and he gave nothing in the clutch. Dylan Larkin is a f***ing coward and a joke.
