That is all :sarcasm:

Seriously though, are people actually bugging McCarron about not fighting? Didn't he come from a league without ANY? Give him time to get his beak wet in the OHL before criticizing him from leaving NHL tough guys alone.

Anyone disagree that McCarron should be given a chance to start this year? I'm thinking as many per-season games as possible and up to the first 9 regular season games to see if he can effectively fill that RW spot on the second line with Pleks and Bourque?

If he can't handle it then we send him to the Hunters for grooming in the OHL.

It's not really a bad option I don't think cause frankly he's not too far away from playing in the NHL and he can get better on the job. Worse case scenario we let him develop more in the OHL after the 9th game.

There is no reason to rush him into the NHL this season. He has decent potential but still has alot to learn and the OHL is the perfect place for that.

He needs big improvements offensively and he'll get to work on them in the OHL. I think we/Bergevin want him to become a top-6 power forward and not just another big depth player. He NEEDS to improve his offence if he's going to get there. So maybe give him a tryout but let him mature at a pace best suited for a player his size that's still growing into his body (Junior-AHL-NHL). No rushing!

I had to come out of hibernation to protest that video. Seriously bad.

Honestly, up until last night, I thought we blew another 1st round pick but the kid really impressed me. He brings something we are so sorely lacking. Between him and Tinordi running players over, I feel pretty pumped about the future. MORE, please. :yo:

He gave me a similar impression last night as Galchenyuk and Gallagher did last preseason in that he didn't look out of place, had a presence and skated with an NHL-worthy stride. I was really surprised to see him fill a spot on a preseason roster so comfortably and competently so soon. Very encouraging.

Yes. There's really no point to even giving him the 9 games. We have other guys like Leblanc, Thomas or Dumont who are much closer to the show and much more ready to take that spot than McCarron.

Not sure it's a good idea for him to start the season with the team, let him grow into a more aggressive league, where he will play with kids his age. He's not an exceptional talent by any means, at least not now (probably never, but mostly a potential great complimentary talent), people should remember he's just 18, and a project to begin with. I'd prefer seeing guys like Bournival/Leblanc/Thomas first with the team...

Yesterday's game was the first pre season game Galchenyuk ever played for MTL.

The habs have enough forward depth for once to not rush anyone.
a

There is a huge gulf between forward depth and forward depth with skill and size.

We are desperately needing someone like McCarron on this team.

With all that said, down to the minors to work on properly channeling his toughness and fighting.

I'd say I'm 100% against it. Give him a full year in the OHL and if he makes it impossible to not send down next year then give him a look. Otherwise I'd say 2, maybe 3 years.

Is there any chance he helps force a decision to keep him? I mean yesterday he played a great game, had 2 solid assists and crashed the net on another goal to help set up the goal. Lets say he somehow ends up being the Habs best forward for the pre-season and a few games into the regular season. Would you reconsider? Do you think he could force "la main" for Bergeron?

I think there's a small chance he could. Would be really incredible to see but again I wouldn't be too disappointed if he was sent down cause hell defineltly improve in the O as well.

Feels like we just drafted Latendresse again with some of these comments...

Yeah but we really forced ourselves with latendresse lol, ...he was practically a local kid and only 6"1 but 220 lbs and at the time that was HUGE to us

this is 6"5 237, this is never before seen for the habs, lol

I must be thinking of Gallagher the year before, then. He impressed big-time. As well as he and Galchenyuk through the first 9 "trial" games last year. By that token, however, the competition definitely would have been stiffer in those games than pre-season.
