Finally got around to watching the latest episode last night. I liked it, another great air battle, the Madolorian's working together and finding a new home for now. Also the plot of which Mando is helping the empire, is it The Armorer the one? I get a vibe that it is her but who knows...

Also sucks to show us all the stuff with the Rangers that was supposed to build towards The Rangers of the New Republic which is not supposedly not moving forward.
I'm not sure it is. Dark Troopers supposedly have Beskar armor in them. Of course they could also be Imperial Super Commandos:

Maybe Fenn Rau, who is set to appear in this season, played by Kevin McKidd, became one?

Did you watch Andor?

Thoughts?

I haven't bothered with season 3 yet so I'm one of those stats of the declining audience.

I actually think this show is very vanilla. The best thing about this show is Pedro Pascal who is a terrific actor and shows more charisma behind a mask than most Star Wars actors do unmasked. However, it's still a very meh show. I rolled my eyes when I first saw Grogu. We're in a galaxy system with how many creatures, and they go the baby Yoda route (for selling toys). The catchphrase "This is the way" is annoying as well. For such a vast place, they sure do like using the same characters/scenery. I like your comment about it feeling like a video game for each episode. Sums it up well. I actually am one of the few who liked season 2 more than season 1.

Maybe that's why Andor felt like such a breath of fresh air. Different environments. Well crafted storytelling. Of course the criticism from some was that it was too slow paced and boring. But we do live in a day and age of instant entertainment. It was just a well built show with a great payoff and the end of each arc. It wasn't perfect, but it was good and made more for an adult audience.
I was on board for most of the first 2 seasons. But then again, that's when I still had my blinders securely fixed on. I was so starved for something decent in Star Wars and the shiny keys they showed me were good enough for the time. The blinders came off sometime last summer (for more than just Star Wars, but that's another story). I finally realized why for the last few years so many movies/TV shows just felt "off". I got a peak behind the veil, what these shows were actually trying to tell us: disgusting doesn't begin to describe it. Wish I had that revelation long before.

As for Andor, it was different but this time in a good way. Don't get me wrong, I was not a huge fan. It had some pretty bad pacing issues and aside from a few scenes I'm not sure Diego Luna is your best choice as a lead. Still, it was intelligent for the most part. Thoughtful, tense. I'll give the second season a watch.

This was a particularly hammy episode. The only acting worse than Lizzo and Cristopher Lloyd was done by all the prosthetic face masks in scenes that tended to last too long.

I loved that the thing from episode 2 that everyone questioned, was brought up. Star Wars making sense? Very fun bottle episode. Loved the cameos. That Mon Calamari was voiced by Tom Holland's brother? Din being such a dick toward the droids... :biglaugh:

I've been really disappointed with this season, but maybe andor just ruined it for me
Andor was serious, well written dramatic Star Wars. Mandalorian is more fun "playing with your toys as a kid" Star Wars. I think if anybody expects this to match Andor they're going to be disappointed.

Which isn't to say this season has been great. It's easily been the weakest of the three seasons so far, and the pacing has been kind of weird. It feels like they've moved the story along and yet haven't gone anywhere at the same time. Is this the 3rd or 4th episode that has ended with Bo in some fashion? I think I'm just looking forward to them actually retaking Mandalore (or at least attempting to) and just want to get there already. It might just be my own lack of patience talking though.

To an extent, sure. But the past seasons of The Mandalorian had scenes like these, too:

It's hard to believe this and the most recent episode are from the same series. I don't really think it's a particularly hot take to say that the tone, quality of writing, and even visual quality of this show have undergone changes this season (and a large portion of the fanbase feels its for the worse).

Well yeah, this last episode was terrible... Felt like we were back to The Littlest Hobo's quest of the week (like season1) - and a pretty boring quest it was.

Pretty much. If you can accept that The Mandolorian is just not that great of show and that is not trying to be high art, you can settle in for 50 minutes of campy cheesy corny clunky SW fun.

I really do think for the most part it looks great. Lots of movie quality set design and production. The space battles and other action sequences are slick, liked the fight scene at the end of this episode in particular.

It does however seem like Disney has got its claws in this season more than the first two. Gratuitous Grogu with Queen Lizzo was alot. Also seems like they have a lot to tie together here in the final two episodes. Won't say I have a ton of confidence in the writers to stick the landing but I'll root for a satisfying finale.

Several things in that episode, especially in the first half, were pretty lame and cringey. The second half was better, but still not very appealing to me. I, too, wasn't a fan of the cameos. It may be my least favorite episode of the whole series.

I did have a laugh at this, though:

Favreau is seemingly still bitter about the four brightly colored ones in The Book of Boba Fett.

I chuckled at seeing the white vespas. "Chuckle" in general is an appropriate word to describe my reactions throughout the episode. I was SW entertained. And I'm still having trouble comprehending that what many people thought about the Dark Saber after episode 2, actually came to be.

I was wondering why it didn't occur to Din and Bo and was waiting for it to come up. I was hoping that it wouldn't and that they'd have to fight over it, though, since this resolution was kind of lame and anti-climactic, IMO.
Is Lizzo or the planet's politics really such a turnoff that people (or rather males, based on IMDB stats) want to downvote this episode?
Why assume that they're downvoting it for one or two specific reasons and not a host of reasons? It was probably my least favorite episode and I have no idea who "Lizzo" is or what the planet's politics are.
