Krejci was on pace for 54 points over a full season on a terrible team, and 70 points the year before. He was also a leading scorer for both the Bruins run to the finals. Unless Monahan takes the next step and becomes a genuine 70-80 point centre, the difference between Monahan and Krejci is very small, and could easily favour Krejci if you're looking for an experienced playoff warrior.

This will be Monahan's breakout season. Krejci's cap hit is 6M more, Monahan had double the production of Krejci last year. People are saying Krejci>>Monahan. It's the other way around.

Wow, I can't beleive people think I lost this trade.

Benn>>Saad
Krejci<<Monahan
Sekera<Ekblad
12,15>17 20

1. I lost over 5M of cap with getting rid of big cap hits.
2. Krejci had 31 points last year, Monahan had 62. Double.
3. Sekera had 23 points last year, and a -3 plus/minus. Ekblad had 39 points and a +12 plus/minus on a (no offense) very bad Florida team.

You got killed on the 12, 15 for 17, 20

And this is VanillaCoke we're talking about LOL. When you said you were going to speak to him again I just imagined him going $$$ ka-ching

You gave up this for Benn:
To
C David Backes
D Ty Barrie
C Mark Scheifele
To
LW Jamie Benn
12th Round Pick
16th Round Pick

So this is essentially your deal:

before
C David Backes
D Ty Barrie
C Mark Scheifele
C David Krejci
D Andrej Sekera
12th Round Pick (21)
16th Round Pick (24)

after
C Sean Monahan
D Aaron Ekblad
LW Brandon Saad
17th Round Pick (19)
20th Round Pick (17)
12th Round Pick (21)
16th Round Pick (24)

Monahan = Krejci (cap and youth vs. veteran status)
Ekblad >> Barrie
Saad =< Backes
17th round pick <<< Sekera
20th round pick <<< Scheifele
12th = 12th
16th = 16th

Heyy it's not that bad actually :D Don't worry about it tbh

Monahan is cheaper, sure. But saying he had double the production is dumb. Giroux had double the production of Stamkos in 2013-2014, but that doesn't exactly mean anything when Stamkos missed half the season...

You won the trade. Ekblad is the next Shea Weber. Him over Sekera easily. Monahan is a beast he had 31 goals in his 2nd season in the NHL. He can hit 40 next year. Anyone who would take Krejci over him is a fool. You move up in the draft too. It's only the one big downgrade from Benn to Saad, but you already have Ovechkin.

Someone sees it the way I see it. I do move down in the draft though.

not in 15-16 which is what the draft is for

MacKinnon went from 63 pts to 38/48 pace last season.

and he's moving down a lot of rounds in the draft

I had Monahan ranked a lot higher than Krejci but if I didn't have a high cap #1 C I'd take Krejci because Monahan prevents you from 2013

Just from what I've seen over the last month and a bit, spotrac.com is NOT a credible source for cap hits. I've found nhlnumbers.com to be the most accurate. And they existed even before capgeek!

Yeah, spotrac says Duclair's caphit is 987k while nhlnumbers says 894k. I just went with the latter :naughty:

With Spotrac it's a bit confusing, since you should be looking at "average salary", not cap hit. Since for ELCs it's structured a bit differently
