SPEEN!
I understand not matching Broberg but not matching Holloway was always a headscratcher. He looks like a finisher in STL.
No way. He's totaling keeping that 1.111 PDO rolling.Yep, Holloway with 6 goals in his past six games. Unsustainable, of course but please God, don't let him become the new Brayden Point (both from Calgary). We'll never hear the end of it...
The thing is, the Oil don't really need a Holloway right now, as in when they're trying to win the '25 Cup. They have enough skilled forwards already.
But a couple of years in the future...? That's when they're really going to miss him.
Holloway is still showing some good finish which is something most of our forwards are lacking at the moment. Maybe it's not the same if he's still here but it's impossible not to question why he wasn't matched even without the benefit of hindsight. No way. He's totaling keeping that 1.111 PDO rolling.
Not directed at you, but I think it's a little funny that this fan base spent all last season (rightfully) shitting on the paper tiger Canucks being propped up by a stupid PDO, but have now completely flipped on the concept because it's two former Oilers being propped up by PDO.
the "his PDO is unsustainable!" is the new copeNo way. He's totaling keeping that 1.111 PDO rolling.

Like I said, it's pretty funny seeing the same arguments used by Canucks fans now being used by Holloway/Broberg fans.the "his PDO is unsustainable!" is the new cope
his OT goal last night was a beauty....had a goal and assist, 5 shots and +2
btw, this year his shooting % percentage isn't outrageous at 14.5 %
and he's only 23
losing him would be easier to swallow if J. Skinner, Arvidsson and Henrique combined managed to outscore him...but they haven't
the difference being Hoglander, Miller, Boeser and Joshua were all shooting 19% or above....for four players to shoot that high at the same time was unsustainableLike I said, it's pretty funny seeing the same arguments used by Canucks fans now being used by Holloway/Broberg fans.
"They can just finish", "They're young", "Their SH% isn't that high", etc. haha
We saw firsthand that Holloway was starting to come alive and gain confidence in the playoffs. His current cap hit of $2.29m is easily digestible. We're paying more than that for players to NOT play with the Oilers.the difference being Hoglander, Miller, Boeser and Joshua were all shooting 19% or above....for four players to shoot that high at the same time was unsustainable
Holloway's shooting % is a meager 14.5%
that's not even close to the same
Holloway isn't just a skilled forward though. He can win forecheck, win puck battles, and help in the transition game that you want your complimentary "grit" players to do too. It's just a colossal loss in every way.Yep, Holloway with 6 goals in his past six games. Unsustainable, of course but please God, don't let him become the new Brayden Point (both from Calgary). We'll never hear the end of it...

Bring Holloway and Broberg's PDO to 1 and they're still gapping most of our roster. No way. He's totaling keeping that 1.111 PDO rolling.

That's exactly like the six games we're talking about where Holloway and his two linemates each have a 25%, 25% and 23.5% shooting percentage.the difference being Hoglander, Miller, Boeser and Joshua were all shooting 19% or above....for four players to shoot that high at the same time was unsustainable

The Oil won a big one last night. This place will be hopping all day as people need something to complain about! No way. He's totaling keeping that 1.111 PDO rolling.

You are propping up incompetent management for reasons I don't understand. The guy's 23 and only has room to grow. PDO definitely has a way of working things out but there was nothing PDO-esque on that nice game winner he scored last night. That's a skilled player doing skilled player things. That's exactly like the six games we're talking about where Holloway and his two linemates each have a 25%, 25% and 23.5% shooting percentage.
And that meager 14.5% is double his career average.
Canucks fans loved to argue why their players were special and that their unsustainable PDO was different too haha.
Another Canuckism haha. You guys just can't help yourselves. You are propping up incompetent management for reasons I don't understand. The guy's 23 and only has room to grow. PDO definitely has a way of working things out but there was nothing PDO-esque on that nice game winner he scored last night. That's a skilled player doing skilled player things.
None of this would even be an issue if Skinner/Arvidsson were doing what they were signed to do but frankly they're not.
Huh??? What does that even mean? Skilled players make skilled plays all the time. We saw it ourselves last night with McDavid. And no don't even suggest this is comparing the players. I'm saying skilled players make goals happen.Another Canuckism haha. You guys just can't help yourselves.
It's the exact same thing Canucks fans said last season aka a Canuckism.Huh??? What does that even mean? Skilled players make skilled plays all the time. We saw it ourselves last night with McDavid. You're also not addressing how Holloway's replacements aren't getting the job done.
It's the exact same thing Canucks fans said last season aka a Canuckism.
And the replacements are pretty much irrelevant to me. Unless you have a time machine to go back and let JJ, I don't really see the point in complaining. Dwelling on something you can't change especially when it's something that's supposed to be part of a fun past time for you just sounds like masochism to me.
For some reason the title of the thread has eluded people, but I'll put that aside. So much crying about Holloway and Broberg. Between the two I rather have Broberg
There's certain posters here who still can't look past the fact that Podkolzin is no Holloway and matching 2 mill was a tough order.... It's mind boggling.Never made sense to not match Holloway.
Oilers look like absolute bone heads
I don't think there's any argument for them matching Holloway. You can't run a 20 man roster that close to the cap. You've got no injury fill-ins and you're accruing no cap space.Never made sense to not match Holloway.
Oilers look like absolute bone heads
you mean players go hot and cold? Earth-shattering news hereThat's exactly like the six games we're talking about where Holloway and his two linemates each have a 25%, 25% and 23.5% shooting percentage.
in a small sample size...he's never played a full season, maybe it's closer to 14.5%And that meager 14.5% is double his career average.
and Oilers fans love to cope with this loss by trotting out "unsustainable" hahahaCanucks fans loved to argue why their players were special and that their unsustainable PDO was different too haha.
Oilers won last night. We get it, that makes you mad. Gotta get your venting out about something Oiler related. Fill your boots. It's just so so sad and predictable. For some reason the title of the thread has eluded people, but I'll put that aside.
Poor asset management has plagued this team for a very long time and this is the epitome of it. I can certainly understand the hesitance to match Broberg's offer sheet. That was too much for a player that's still very raw. Holloway's though... Even if he didn't pan out, $2.29m for a couple of years is extremely reasonable. He's doing very well in St. Louis, showing them what he showed us last year. Call it PDO or whatever floats your boat but he's still succeeding in St. Louis. That's the point. McDavid and Draisatl can't drive the offense every single night. Holloway could certainly help in that regard.
Yup, was really pissed that the goalie that I've been defending so ardently put on another good performance. Man that just boils my blood.Oilers won last night. We get it, that makes you mad. hahahaha your need to bitch and moan about this team is just insane. Yes, this is a gripe thread. Convenient that it sees an uptick in volume from you whenever the Oilers win. Oil win a big game...Skinner plays well....can't...be...happy...MUST...bitch...about....managementYup, was really pissed that the goalie that I've been defending so ardently put on another good performance. Man that just boils my blood.
What I don't get is why are people upset about people griping in a thread that's specifically about griping? You wanted us to use specific threads to voice grievances and now apparently even that isn't allowed.
Sorry for questioning Oilers management. They're perfect and have never made an error ever.
