I'm curious to see why a Jays fan wouldn't be happy if they made that offer/move.
Bringing in talent that costs just cash is always great, provided it's not some idiotic contract that will haunt them in the future and I don't see 5 at $100 million as being an example of that kind of deal.
So apparently Wheeler may have a 5/100m offer from some team.
Would you guys be happy if that team was the Jays?
Pineda is suspended for 80 games.

60 game suspension, 21 games already served. So he would be back in early May and would miss maybe... 8 starts? Of course, knowing he's going to miss those starts will also keep the cost down a bit.
Cole Hamels to the Braves according to Jeff Passan. One year - $18 million.
Why not??? Its only money. And I bet he takes 20mill a season for 3 years rather then 4 years a 15 million per.
Maybe the Wheeler deal is extreme I agree. But I wouldn't mind overpaying for Keuchel as well on a shorter term deal like 3yrs for 60 million.
Why would it be a bad idea?
That is a massive overpay on him and would be a bad deal the second the ink dried. Why not??? Its only money. And I bet he takes 20mill a season for 3 years rather then 4 years a 15 million per.

Yeah I wouldnt want to go over 3 years with him.I didn't suggest targeting Keuchel was a bad idea. I didn't even suggest overpaying Keuchel by a bit was a bad idea. I was suggesting offering Keuchel 5/100 was a bad idea.
Anthopoulos really sucks at the whole "collusion" thing.
Would definitely have a look if we miss out on 2 of Keuchel, Wheeler or Ryu. The Jays should be targeting 2 of those 3 as a priority. They have the budget and next years free agent class is lacking that quality.

What's left to rebuild? As a rebuilding team, it'll be challenging convincing any top Free agents to spend prime years here. Overpaying would likely be the only way to do it which is likely what the FO is looking at doing. Getting 2 to come though is not happening.
It's nice to see the front office appears to be heavily aggressive in acquiring rotation arms.
One could make the argument that they have, by quite a margin, the most capitalize to utilize this offseason (and the ones following).
Money to Spend: What’s the Likely State of Team Payrolls in 2020?
That's conservative. If they went to a $130MM payroll, they'd have $80MM to spend...which is ridiculous.

I liked Wheeler, but 24M......
