In this case I think there is a misreading of what Brooks meant. He is actually supporting McDavid I suspect, though in a rather cryptic way I suppose.

The WNBA is a physical league, and rookies will certainly have to adjust to the new level of competition, but these situations also showcase how WNBA referees should be more willing to hand out flagrant fouls.
