This dude is having the most fraudulent breakout season in NHL history. 49 point pace while shooting an unsustainable 20% yet he's "finally arrived"
Someone that clearly isn’t watching his games.

Since you know his stats so well, what are his teammates shooting off his passes or on plays where he’d get a secondary assist?

Are you sure you've been watching NYR games and not another team? Just checking.

And the whole team basically sucked against Buffalo, especially in the third period. I love how you used that game specifically as a benchmark, btw, lol. Good try, though.
There’s a Flames fan on the mains who doesn’t buy into this Rangers team the last few years because like two or three years ago our two worst games of the season were coincidentally against them.

He’s on pace for like 16 points more than last season. No, his SH% isn’t high. Nothing about his analytics look unsustainable. Yes, he’s playing more than last season, but he’s playing 5th forward minutes, not 1st or 2nd. Is he helped playing with Panarin? Yeah, but so what? How could you watch that first goal last night and say he’s leaching points off Panarin? That’d be like the type of goal people would say he’d leach off Panarin, except Lafreniere gave Panarin the easy goal.

Lafreniere looks legitimately very skilled. Anyone saying they don’t see it, you aren’t watching. It’s obvious if you watch the games. He’s been our second or third best forward. Panarin obviously the best and Trocheck and Kreider have also been good, but in terms of pure offense, Lafreniere has been the second best for the best team in the league.

Don’t give me the “he’s not a superstar” argument. No one’s arguing he is. We’re happy he’s trending towards being a first line forward and potentially a good first line forward. He could even be a first line forward this season, if he keeps this play up.

You can only score so much at ES as well. A 16 point increase without really adding many PP points is pretty huge. Not that the PP isn’t important, but the Rangers have a great 1st unit anyway

I didn’t realize he only just (October) turned 22.

I was fully on board the bust train thinking he was more like 25.

Yeah, with the way he’s played this year (in the admittedly small sample I’ve seen) and his point production, he may end up as a top end second liner or bottom end first liner, which is higher than I would have thought last year.
