So it was a mistrial?
This is one of my favorite threads. So many people trying to look intelligent. Just blowing up in their face. I'm sure I'll get some blow back 'he's not as good as he was supposed to be blah blah'. Not every player is a superstar its just not possible. However it was always way too early to call him a bust. NHL is a hard league to be good development takes time. It's likely all the same people pounnding their fist in the Byfield and Slafkovsky threads. The big players take longer. Laf isn't big but he isn't small either. Glad to see he is playing well he was very noticeable last night.

Yeah he does, Montreal is probably one of the most consistently fantastic cities to live in in the world. I’ve lived all over Canada including Montreal, spent time in Europe and the states. Montreal is by far and away one of my favorite places alongside Vancouver.

Philly is a dump,
It's really not I've traveled alot the downtown is clean and there are lots of nice pockets. You're very negative and opinionated

It really is, both times I've been to philly I was happy to see it in the rearview, there are beautiful cities in the US Philly for me just isn't one of them, especially when compared to Montreal

I lived in Philly for a year. I used to think it was a dump too. But to me it was a smaller NY. Everything you can want and very walkable. Other then the Eagles winning the SB the year I was there and hating my job I have only good memories of the city.

Honestly Philly is a dump
Went there for the first time recently. Philly is cute. No need to hate on the city even though you can hate the team and fans.

Philly is rather nice.

This thread is an absolute cancer of Rangers haters. If you watched him this season and thought he didn't stand out for a shift you're just a non-objective hater. I know fans don't like the Rangers and it would be great for them for Lafreniere who a lot of fans thought the Rangers shouldn't have been in position to draft to be the worst player ever but your hatred is blinding you. BTW, Machinehead has been one of his biggest critics. When he's saying Lafreniere has been good it's not some Rangers homer saying he's been good. The fact y'all can't admit he's been good is embarrassing for y'all. Grow the f*** up you man children.
True, Machinehead is a Rangers fan who actually hates 90% the team. Don't even mention a goaltender to him.

His stats look better over the recent unsustainable stretch, but the product on the ice looks the same. I have to question if you've actually watched him play this season
The product on the ice looks the same? Some of you posters can't be serious here. As a NYR fan, i've crapped on the player for 3 years, but I can see the difference this year, so far. If by product looks the same you mean he's not Kucherov on the ice, sure, you win. Literally none of us are saying "Wow, what a great 1st overall level we got with this pick". It's a good thing Husso made a good save on him last night or he'd have another "tap-in" goal...

This thread in a nutshell:

Rangers fans: Laf has been better and playing well. He's had a positive impact 5 on 5 for us.

Other fans: Are you saying he's a superstar? He's literally never made a positive play in his career.

It's more like:

Rangers fans: Laf has been better and playing well. He's had a positive impact 5 on 5 for us.

Other fans: Philadelphia sucks

I've watched about 10 NYR games this year, have yet to see one where Laf stood out. Last night against Buffalo he looked slow and disinterested.
Are you sure you've been watching NYR games and not another team? Just checking.

And the whole team basically sucked against Buffalo, especially in the third period. I love how you used that game specifically as a benchmark, btw, lol. Good try, though.

It's pretty apparent who's actually watched (and not just claimed to watch, lol) Ranger games/Laf this season if you don't think he's improved. He looks like a different player under Lavi's coaching (part of it could be maturing as well). It's not just the points he's putting up, but he's legit been the 2nd best forward this season behind Panarin.

He has looked GREAT - too many posters invested their "HF cred" on him being a bust and they don't want to see the improvement. He is one of the best 3 forwards on a loaded team. Give him another year and some PP1 time and he will be PPG.

At least there was 2018.

I spend too much time on these boards because I'm not a Rangers fan and I spend no time on the Rangers local board and I still know that @Machinehead really loves a certain goaltender whose last name rhymes with Smoregiev.

Panarin was actually costing Laf points as of late. Finally buried a Grad A pass from him.

I was dead serious when I made the thread, he was garbage. But he legitimately looks good and is generating chances every night. I am cautiously optimistic with him

Calling a kid a complete bust when he has played over 200 nhl games is asking to be wrong. “Complete” indicates he can’t even play in the nhl. But if you watch him play he can clearly play at the nhl level. He is still on the up. His brain isn’t even fully developed. Wait until he is 26. He will be a really effective nhl player baring injury. So how can you be out here calling him a complete bust? Trolling the nyr fan base? Looks like a good pick to me.

I could do with or without him. I just thought it was crazy how much Rangers fans hated him.

I hate goalies because they're goalies. It was like personal for people with Georgiev.

Im a Ranger fan. Like I said, I was dead serious when I made the thread, he looked like he didn't belong in the NHL. He couldn't even complete a pass or carry the puck for a second. If you care enough to go to the Ranger board and his player thread around the time this thread was made, you'll see that a lot of people felt same way. And it was after years of being extremely underwhelming and unnoticable in most games.

hopefully this lasts and he only continues to improve.
