Well, nobody else has started one, so I'm going to. He deserves one.

He didn't take us to the promised land, but he took us further than we've gone since 1997. I was a senior in high school.

Last season didn't end with a Cup, but it was still very special, nonetheless. In fact, it was the highest I've felt from Rangers hockey since the spring of '94.

The way he was with the media, to me, was a breath of fresh air. In an era where people just utter the same boring, cliche BS, I loved every second of it.

Thank you, Torts, for all that you did here. Now go save some more pups :)

I liked what he did here. I feel like coaches of that sort may, in fact, have a limited window of time in which they're extremely effective. Last year is the closest we've gotten, and it was our best chance. It just turned against him.

I'm not crazy about the move. I think the team went from a homegrown youth movement to a team of half mercs and a new coach in the span of a year. I think that is terrible.

I liked Torts too, but I can see why they made the move.

The core is still homegrown.
 
I appreciate a lot of what John has done here. Most of all, I appreciate that he brought accountability for all players, passion to give 100% on the ice, a strong work ethic, and emphasis for conditioning and preparation. I'm also going to miss the fact that he goes to bat for his team just as often as he holds them accountable. It's unfortunate it didn't work out here, I really wanted it to. But make no mistake about it ... if this team goes on and wins a cup ... there are some principles and foundations he has set here that will be a part of it.
 
I like what he brought, accountability, structure and discipline. But his system was not working anymore and he was too stubborn to adjust, that was his downfall.

Thanks Torts, you led us within a win of the SCF and helped fine tune some of our players games. You also provided entertainment. Not necessarily sad you are gone as I feel the time had come, but I feel for you and hope you find work in the NHL again very soon.

Last year's team was one of the hardest working and toughest to play against in the league, and Torts played a big part in instilling that mentality.

I also enjoyed watching the Pack Line and Feds-Boyle-Prust in 2010-11, two lines that really epitomized what Torts demands of his players. Hard to believe only Cally and Boyle remain.
 
If nothing else, Tortorella's team last year was the most fun Rangers squad to watch since 1994. For that, all Rangers fans should thank him. I certainly do.

While this year was rough going, last year was one of the funnest seasons to watch.

I'll never forget that team, and Torts is one of the key reasons why it worked so well. Its unfortunate that he could not adjust the gameplan to the roster he had for whatever reason.

His time here was running out but I wish him luck wherever he lands next.

The man did lots of good. I liked him and didn't mind his personality. Only if he thought about the game in more adaptable way.
 
While I'm very happy we're moving on from Torts, I can't deny that he generally did quite a good job in his tenure here, 2012 being his peak. The 11-12 team was Torts' dream team, and it showed.

For the most part, he did a great job with our younger players. DZ. Stepan. Callahan. McDonagh. Moore. Brassard. Dubinsky, when he was here. Anisimov, when he was here. He handled Zuccarello quite well this year, as well.

I'll wish him success in his future coaching job, if he gets one.

Appreciate what? The PP being lousy for his entire time here? His idiotic choice to put Girardi on the PP constantly when he is not any good offensively? Being the only team in the league that switches lines up every game and doesn't build chemistry? Or did we appreciate the fact that the team played the PK all game instead of attacking on offense.

No loss.
 
Thank you for making a loss easier with your post game conferences that were pure gold even though you were probably the reason for a lot of the losses. The pressers were still enjoyable.

Well, you can appreciated the Eastern Final, 2nd round playoff exit and most sustained "success" (as small as it may be) that the Rangers have experienced in the last 15 years, or you can have whinge. Either way...

What about '97? Team also made it to the ECF, and we had Gretzky.

This team definitely needed someone like Torts back when Renney was let go. Renney was too much of a wimp, coward. How many times did he show 0 emotion? The exception to the rule would have been that Blackhawks game where Chicago ended up with like 15 5-on-3s.

Torts was definitely a breath of fresh air.
 
It's too bad Sather messed the team up last offseason with the Nash trade. Torts should be leading those bunch of guys on the Rangers as part of what would have been a homegrown dynasty (of sorts, elite play year in year out like last year showed they could do, not necessarily cup year after year but it would definitely be possible if not probably to win a few over a whole bunch of years)

When this team doesn't score next year but plays a whole lot worse and softer defensively you'll be vindicated.

Yeah man, Dubinsky and Anisimov were the missing links to a dynasty. Lay off the bleach, bro.
 
I'm really going to miss him and his fire. It's going to be odd seeing him behind another team's bench.
 
The most impressive Torts accomplishment was the 1 overall seed. I still have no idea how they got that.

Beating Ottawa and Washington...barely, by the skin of their teeth, showed the true nature of the Tort's run system. Which was garbage.
 
There's alot of things I don't like about Torts and I think it was time for him to go. But the team did good things under him, no denying that.
