World Cup: 4 Nations Tournament - Team Sweden (2025)

When healthy, Ek is a physical beast. Whatever tests they do in the Wild preseason, he has always been head and shoulders above the rest in conditioning.
He's obviously dealing with something right now.

He must really want a piece of this tournament, because I think the time off would do him a world of good.

Zibanejad is terrible this year. Basically same situation as Pettersson except he's also terrible defensively

Eriksson Ek also has a down year but at least he's only a 3rd line center and is good defensively.

Leo Carlsson, 30 point forward who lost his swagger, 3 points in the last 14 games.

It's not all about points as a Centre, EP still has all the same talent as before and after a summer of no training among others he's finally healthy and I bet he plays a huge role for my darkhorse pick in this tourny.

We could beat Canada but only if Karlsson, Hedman, Arvidsson, Ep and Zibanejad returns to their prime. Which wont happen.
 
This is a great spot for Sweden to be in.

No pressure, get Canada right away.

TSN's cringeworthy patriotic media is already pushing the pro-Canada storylines so I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of a 2002-style result that "stuns" everyone.

Sweden’s going with 2 scoring lines instead of 1 stacked line. Would swap Rakell with Kempe, 1st line needs a bit more size.
 
Overall, after a lousy first period, I think most Swedes played pretty well vs. Canada.

Filip Forsberg, Elias Pettersson, William Nylander would be among those I expected more from.

Nylander was to blame for 2 Canada goals, not good.

Maybe could have redeemed himself if he had gotten that breakaway in OT.

Credit to Sweden for plugging away despite how that game went early on.

Hedman struggled a number of times against pressure resulting in his skewed TOI. He had four shifts that were an eternity because he couldn't change more than just high matchup use. I was not expecting that, particularly how poorly he and Brodin played as a tandem in the first period.
 
Never thought the game would be that close, and that with players and coach, being way worse then they can.

Bratt and Raymond are the 2 highest scoring Swedes in the NHL this year. They have the best defensive center on the team between them, even having a down year this season, he still scored 30 last year.

Not only is that a scoring line, dont be surprised when theyre Swedens best line in the tourney
