It never HAD the 2nd pure goal scorer- they traded for an old busted one and he predictably got broke again immediately. Stop looking at Patches as an asset- he was a mistake made by the regime.

Boston started the season with actual pure goal scorers out and it never slowed them down.

The issue to me is exactly what Necas said in the pregame interview “we’ve got to play defense and the offense will come” These guys are so tense about not making defensive mistakes they’ve lost all offensive creativity. They’re not playing to beat the other team, they’re playing to keep the other team from beating them. I think it’s one of the reasons they crumble under pressure, our offensive forwards have been neutered.

Watch TT for the rest of the night. They can sustain any offense pressure because even the slightest glimpse of a defenseman close to getting below the dots and they circle out to cover the point. They don’t have any flow, there’s no natural smoothness to it, everything seems forced for TT, Aho, Jarvis and Necas.

Ain't this the truth. We are so hyper focused on selling our defensively we've lost all concept about how to operate offensively. I've even heard them remark about how they have to be careful not to allow the odd man break on the PP.

That's not to say that we shouldn't be focused defensively but given how much they struggle offensively maybe they've skewed a little too far in one direction.
