OT: The Holiday Thread

Im so glad my daughter was able to book a flight to get here yesterday.
She was supposed to fly this morning from Indianapolis. Everything from there is canceled. Right through tomorrow.

She cant cancel for credit her original round trip because she would lose her return flight on 28 th.
I told her I dont care. I’ll eat the one way from yesterday. Being here is our Christmas present.
My oldest boy will get here this afternoon by car. Gonna be great having all the ‘kids’ here under one roof for a few days. The Bride is in her glory.

With my niece's invaluable assistance the toll house cookies are done, fudge is made (rocky road!) and the bird is prepped for cooking overnight.

Tomorrow morning it is clean the apartment, then peel & cook potatoes (mashed) later on.

Surprise visitor today! My baby neice! Haven't seen her in person in 3 weeks. She loved the Santa rug. Lots of crumbs on it now haha but I don't mind, I'll vacuum later. She walked(!!!) Inside the house and gave me a big hug.

I am completely alone for Christmas for the first time in my 46 years on this planet. A perfect storm of family politics, broken relationships and an unhealthy work/life balance.

It may sound a little silly, but being proxy to all the kindness I see in this thread helps. I am not terribly upset, mind you, the peace and quiet (and productivity, unhealthy balance aside) has been not so bad. There are such good people in our little e-family here, though, and I am grateful for all of you.

During COVID I spent my first Christmas alone.

You have your adorable pup and often that is much better than people. Sending a Christmas hug to you and your pup (I just LOVE his face)
