OT: The Holiday Thread

Well I just finished watching Christmas Mass at St Peters. A tradition taught by my late grandmother, that I carry on today. Very emotional time for me. Whenever I watch. Feeling very grateful and blessed this evening. May God Bless you all. Have a Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays to all. And I hope Santa brings you everything good!

LISTEN LIVE - A Boston Tradition - Christmas Eve with Oedipus - from 8 PM to 1 AM on WGBH-FM 89.7

One of the most influential rock radio programmers in the country, Oedipus packs his show with the Christmas music you’ve never heard, including rare tracks from rock, hip hop, classical, spoken word, ethereal, and more. In fact, Oedipus was the first DJ to put The Waitress’ “Christmas Wrapping” on the air. He vets hundreds of Christmas songs throughout the year—but doesn’t determine what he’s spinning until Christmas Eve arrives.

Oedipus has long been a pioneer in the music space, gaining notoriety for hosting the first punk radio program in the country. While heading up programming at Boston’s pioneering rock radio station WBCN, he helped the station introduce local audiences to bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Police, and U2.

It was always a challenge for Oedipus to staff WBCN on Christmas Eve, so he began to host the holiday shift himself in the 1970s, a tradition that continued until the station’s demise in 1999. The program was carried by WFNX and RadioBDC before Oedipus brought his talents to WGBH in 2015. In addition to this year's Mayoral Proclamation, Oedipus has been recognized as the Best Program Director of the Year by multiple publications including several times by Billboard.
Oedipus never disappoints - I believe he started this in 1976 on WBCN.

Good night with old friends.

I was going to bed when I realized I had a few more gifts to wrap. Rookie move. 😅 Finally finished. I'll just sleep on the couch tonight. Brought the humidifier in. Christmas tree looks flawless. Ambiance is perfect. Now I can rest.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all goodnight (for real this time!)

This is pretty cool. Annual tradition in my town. Santa coming on fire truck through every neighborhood as I write this.
my kids used to run out to front yard and wave like crazy. Miss that now.

Mine did as well. Was the best thing ever. Now it’s her turn. She’s watching Santa come up the street
