OT: The Holiday Thread

Started to decorate the tree. My little nephew slept over and wanted to decorate so we started. Our old vintage star finally blew tonight. Very sad moment. Mom immediately went to Google to see if it was available anywhere (its over 20 years old). No luck. Until she decided to go on ebay and search. Nothing, nothing until....BINGO! She found it. The only one online. It was crazy. Obviously she bought it so we are star-less at the moment. We have a few more ornaments to put up too so it's okay. Its mostly vintage and our childhood ornaments. But it was good to get this thing up for a start. I still have Halloween decorations outside to take in. Just haven't had the time. I'll do it this week as I heard the weather will be decent!

After being extremely sad and depressed last year, getting this tree up early means the world to me. Sometimes the little things are the big things.

Looks pretty yummy. A little surprised that it could turn out so well after coming out of the washing machine. Do you have one of those newfangled machines that has a cotton, delicates and air fryer setting?

LMAO. Actually the stove is next to the washing machine. Whoever laid out the electrical & plumbing fixtures in that apartment should have been shot.

Try taking one without the room lights on, there might be too much glare from the room lights & the tree lights.

I am beyond pissed off- just found out that "A Charlie Brown Christmas" will not be aired on tv for the first time ever. f***ing Apple has the rights and has decided that the only way people can watch it is by streaming on Apple+ TV.

Does anyone else have a SO that has to move the ornaments on the tree no matter where you put them? My kids always joked that wherever they put something Mom would rearrange it.

When my daughter was very young there was a moose ornament that she wanted in a certain spot. It became a game where we would put it somewhere else and she would always move it back to the spot she picked

Real tree or artificial?

When does yours go up?

We have artificial. Usually goes up Thanksgiving weekend.

I get a real tree.

This year it will probably be after I get back from St Martin. I will also put up some outdoor lights later.

I did put the candles in the windows . They run on batteries and turn on at dark and off when it gets light.

I bake. My daughter loves this sour cream/ cinnamon dark chocolate loaf pan cake. It is good. I also always make almond poppy cake.

Amanda has her traditions and even at 43 they must be observed . When she was little, I told her Santa, and his elves kept an eye on her to be sure she was being good. She and I put up the tree with all of the decorations (she was probably 4 or 5) and I forgot that I had candy canes to put on the tree (after she had gone to bed) so I added them to the tree. When Amanda woke up, she was so excited to see that the elves had put candy canes on the tree. To this day I have to get up and add them when she is sleeping.

Holidays are going to be much different after this year. I'm going to be an auntie Don't worry, Munchkin already loves Patrice Bergeron and I got her a little Bergy bear to start her collection. Her first jersey will be a Bergeron and it won't be pink Can't wait for the years to come.
