Does anyone have a recollection about this 1972 movie? I am posting it here as the trailer has some great Bruins footage from the early 70's.

I found a review in the Harvard Crimson written by John Powers who would go on to a long career writing sports for the Boston Globe.

Appears it was released in Canada with the title Faceoff

My, that is truly awful. :)

BTW, the coach is none other than John Vernon, the fellow who played Dean Wormer in "Animal House" four years later.

'Kraut Line' of Bruins honored before going to war

It was the first time, and the last, that Montreal Canadiens players would hoist three members of the Boston Bruins onto their shoulders and skate them around a rink in joyful celebration.

But it was no ordinary game on Feb. 10, 1942, and the Bruins' so-called "Kraut Line" of center Milt Schmidt and wings Bobby Bauer and Woody Dumart was hardly an ordinary trio.

It was 75 years ago that Schmidt, Bauer and Dumart played their final game before heading into World War II service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, racking up 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in an 8-1 clobbering of the Canadiens at Boston Garden.

Oh my thanks to everyone for this thread this is awesome.. First time I see this thread! :shakehead:shakehead I cant believe I have not seen this thread before.

Amazing how long they let them go . The officials today would have moved in pretty quickly .

Here's another that just surfaced on YouTube featuring Gord Kluzak back in 1984. Unfortunately I don't always get the NESN feed on Center Ice, and haven't seen Kluzak in a while. So I don't know if he still occasionally does commentary in between periods.

Here's another that just got posted featuring Wayne Cashman.

January 24, 1974 - Blackhawks at Bruins ( Complete Game )

Fans got a little testy at the end of the game when a Bruins player was ejected. He wore #4

Video montage of the 70 save game vs Quebec.

Tugnutt was in another galaxy for the entire game.
I was at the game but there was a blizzard going on outside and I knew I was going to have to slowd through the snow thigh deep to Charlestown over the bridge. I never wanted it to end because I never wanted to leave

This video just reminded me how much I miss the Garden.

it was the most gorgeous dump this fan has ever been in. I have been to all original 6 barns before their respective teams moved to other digs and my favorites are in this order

1- Boston....duh

2- The Forum- for as much as I hate the Habs, can`t deny the insane vibe on game day in Montreal and once that puck dropped, even crazier

3- Chicago, great old barn

4- Detroit- found their fans cool to sit with and the barn had a ton of history

5- MLG

6- MSG- I dunno, been there 2 times, never saw the attraction, lighting was bizarre, fans rude....

I actually saw a game at MSG III which was at 8th Avenue and 50th.

Very similar to Boston Garden and for good reason as the original name of the Garden was Boston Madison Square Garden

The most exclusive club inside TD Garden still keeps the name to this day

The Montreal Forum was simply electric. Chicago Stadium was loud and the pipe organ was truly spectacular. Maple Leaf Gardens never did much for me. It had the same setup later used in Hartford. Detroit Olympia I never saw a game but was inside it once. Very similar to the Garden but they had to move in 1979 as the neighborhood got very, very bad after the 1967 riots in the city.
