Yes they should, that's why they are paid handsomely.

Zero points in 12 games for Armia
Dadonov 2 points in more games.
Gallagher 3 goals in 22 games.
I don't agree

The coach needs to raise the bar with these vets and Hughes needs to start jettisonning some of these guys.
Pitlick is rotting in Laval while several useless vets get a free pass.

Habs were better on D with 4 rookies than they are right now.

Our vets...................are pure garbage. Gally, Drouin, Armia, Dadonov................over 20M right there......pure garbage, sory to be so harsh, but man, they are pure bad....
So yes, they can be better, but they are not.......brutal.

There's a reason why this team was expected to finish in the bottom-3, and it's specifically because the veterans are either overpaid for what they can possibly give at this point of their careers (AKA, basically the forwards) or paid correctly but played well over their head and their, well, pay (Savard, Edmundson).

If one of you seriously expected the likes of Gallagher and Armia and Hoffman and Drouin to have given more than they did so far this year, you've been watching an entirely different sport all along. Monahan has been something of a surprise, but he's really the only one.

And, yes, it's a bit pathetic that our most creative D's with the puck are Arber Xhekaj and David Savard.

The result isn’t great but it doesn’t reflect the actual game… we just were able to score on our chance and everything when in on there side…We had the best chances Pezz miss like 2, Gallagher hit a post and miss one, Anderson had chances, Caufield had a few chances we just could convert.

I’m not sure why this first goal wasn’t offside since you could clearly see space between the skate a blue line while the puck was still touching the blue line and the player had possession…

Again Slaf finishing with less than 12min…even if he had over 3 min of PP. He need more ice time, he need more touches in game, he is doing better in some way but he is also more hesitant in other aspect which is normal when you are only playing 10min a game, I rather he play 120% making mistake than 95% not making mistake, it isn’t because he isn’t making mistake that he is learning, I would say that right now he is learning to be avg the way he is being deployed that how you end up with Armia vs. Rantanen type player.
I am surprised Slaf got almost 12min considering he had 4 seconds of ice time 11 minutes into the game.

Some good points...............that being said, it's not right for them to be so bad, and have the kids watch. Leading by example would be a good thing, for this younger crowd.
No one expected much from our vets, as they were the product of a clown GM.....but they surely have more than that to offer, and mail it in every night....

It's possible that some of the players would be better if they had the right line combinations.See how Dach has flourished since getting new line mates.
The vets, if not performing reasonably should get waived.

Again, maybe for SOME of them (Armia and Mike Hoffman, despite the latter having the hockey IQ of my wifi speaker), but Gallagher just doesn't seem like a guy who can physically give more than he does. Drouin could maybe win a board battle once in a while, but he can't physically shoot like an NHL'er.

And then you have Savard who's paid probably exactly what he's worth (bot-3 D-Men) but is asked to play a Top-3 role, and no one should be surprised to see that he's definitely not a long-term solution.

Caufield and Suzuki are the only threats to score. Everyone else just feeds the point, we need a good shot option from someone else.
They would be more threatening if they shot more often, too much trying for the perfect setup and inevitably losing possession and killing time.

I call bs Allen has NEVER been a number one for any length of time anywhere. We HAVE to play the goaltender making the saves at critical times the one the rest of the team can get behind.

Allen was literally the number 1 goalie of the blues for several years.
That's a funny comment considering Montebeault has never been a decent backup goaltender in the nhl, let alone a starter. Montebeault has a few good games, and people think he's a top goalie now lol.

Was Carey Price playing 82 nhl games? Because the idea that you only play one goaltender makes 0 sense.
Also, Allen didn't allow any bad goals and didn't have a bad game, so this whole enragement over Allen having started is absurd.

Speaking of killing time, can someone educate me on the effectiveness of the “drop pass”. What exactly does that do ? I see it as a very inefficient way to start a pp.

In theory?lol. Come up the ice with a head of steam and penetrate the O zone with possession and then pass the puck around the perimeter until someone has the balls to try to make a pass through the slot and hope no one mucks it up.

I don’t get the obsession with Dadonov, either. He’ll never come close to his career highs and even if he bounces back a little, what’s he going to fetch, a 5-6th rounder?

because Marty is a puppet like the other coaches. The GM is still making the coaching decisions and roster moves nightly. There is no reason Dadonov nor Armia should be playing at this point. Gallagher is also a fringe player. Makes you wonder why we even have a head coach since he does nothing but post game speeches. How could Marty let that stupid drop pass continue when the PP is this bad?

You can count me as one that is not enamored with how things have unfolded.

There's three teams I want us to win against : Bruins, Leafs and Panthers. The rest I don't invest myself too much in the games.

They desperately need a quarterback and I'm not sure that guy is in the organization yet. Mailloux is a big shot guy and rushes, Hutson is shifty and rushes. Not sure if either is a true quarterback.

From what little I've adsorbed is that Dach,Nick or Cole can do it,but no one shoots ever, can they not shoot from the point? I see a fair amount of goals from just putting the puck towards the net.

I am surprised Slaf got almost 12min considering he had 4 seconds of ice time 11 minutes into the game.

How much from the 12 min was on the PP? Cause I think that's how Slaf gets more ice time. Limited on the 4th line at 5/5 but will depend if we have 2 PP's or 4 in any game.

I think Matheson is doing fine. He's going to make risky plays but that's what offensive types do. Hopefully Mailloux develops into one too!

I think we need more shooters. Caufield helps but sometimes some of the others need to get the puck on net.

On the 5/3 we had, they dilly dallied with it for most of it before they got a shot.
