It's a one-way contract for $775k.

I would be surprised if anyone picked him up, Bruins gotta be stuck with him.

Now we wait for Musto to demand that we pick him up off waivers...
I mean he would immediately be our seve... eigh... ninth best D.

All joking aside, I'd probably take him over both Zaitsev and Tinordi. I really don't expect the Hawks to pick him up, though. Don't expect anyone to pick him up. Most nights, a cone stuck in front of the net will be better than those two, though.

You know he's not going to get claimed, right?

There are 6 players that did not play a game from the 2nd round of the 2016 draft. The Hawks picked two of them. Their third rounder also didn't play.

Chad Krys
Artur Kayumov
Wouter Peters

Masterclass.

But they also took DeBrincat in the 2nd that year.

Chad Krys was a rough pick no doubt. Sam Girard was a similalry sized defenseman two picks later.

Wouter Peeters feels like one of those picks where some scout slammed their fist on the table and made their stand. He was big and playing in Austrian Juniors with the EC Salzburg program. He got recruited to Jokerit but flamed out of there, tried his hand at the USHL and wasn't good there, never ended up getting signed by the Hawks. 7th goalie taken that year. First "true" Belgian ever drafted.

Connor Ingram went five picks after and he's splitting starts in Arizona right now, but that's about it. Carter Hart, Filip Gustavsson and Joseph Woll all went prior to him.

Me and @Blue Liner were pounding the table for Adam Fox if they wanted a USNTDP defender that year. Also Ryan Lindgren we discussed as well, as being better than Krys.

Krys was one of those, great year before his draft year and was expected to improve and be a 1st rounder. He struggled that year but Stan and Kelley sought guys like that a lot. I mean, Vlasic was one and so was Saad.

I actually think that Zaitsev and Tinordi have not been as bad as I expected.

I swear to god Hagel was listed at 5'11 when he was in our system but now he's 6'2?? Also remember that fight with Laine where they said Hagel was giving up 6 inches to Laine whos like 6'5.

If he's actually 6'2 that explains his effectiveness, not many guys his size who have that speed/motor and forechecking skill. He probably grew after his draft combine and they never measured him again till he got to Tampa lol

Mitchell was a good college player. I am surprised he just couldn't figure out how to battle.

Charmin soft.
I wouldn’t describe him as soft. He’s pretty willing to engage but he just hasn’t gotten any stronger since his college days. I wonder if coming into pro hockey during covid hindered his development at all
