How many penalties did you call on him? Ever boot him from a game?
I don’t remember if I ever called any penalties on him, that was a lifetime ago! If I did it was just typical hockey stuff. Those Mission teams were rather disciplined.

I did toss Steve Maltais once.

While he wasn't the main piece of the McCabe/Lafferty trade to Toronto, Hawks still sold high on him.
It’s poor asset management from the Leafs. The report was the Hawks wanted a first for Jake and a second for Sam, and they got a first and second in that trade.

So the Leafs turned a second into a fifth in half a year.

Columbus looking to move Adam Boqvist, or one of the other two defensemen on the roster:

It's a damn shame Columbus is also rebuilding (and we don't trade with Jarmo anymore cuz of Bowman lol) but I would take Andrew Peeke for the bottom pairing on the right side. His contract is nice too. And he wouldn't be blocking anybody since the Hawks don't have much depth on the right side currently as it is (all our good defensive prospects play the left and Allan and Kaiser are pretty much playing the right as left shots)

One injury to Murphy and/or Jones and Zaitsev is likely playing 20 minutes a night.... well I guess if you're still tanking that's a good thing.

Adam Boqvist is a scratch tonight which is not shocking. So is Kent Johnson which quite shocking, my fantasy is to trade for him.

Was going to suggest the reversal of the Jones trade but then remembered it was Sillinger drafted with that pick.

I'd still reverse it, we'd get Jiricek and not have Seth Jones. Win-win.
Also, instead of Sillinger, they could have picked any of Wallstedt, Coronato, or Wyatt Johnston.

Sillinger had a great rookie year. Yeah he was awful last year but it doesn't mean he's bad. He's starting on the top line for cbj

Johnson sitting out is nuts

Trade them Vlasic + Dach, and give me a Johnson-Bedard-Reichel line lol

I wanted to ask this but how much do you value net front and board battling presence on a line?

I keep seeing lines suggested with three perimeter skill guys, and i cant imagine how it would work.

I think the best lines are ultimately with superstars that all kind battle hard along the boards and constantly switch between who is having the puck out the perimeter and who is in front of the goalie or pinning against the boards, and all three guys being comfortable with it.

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak, or Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen for example.

But even if we put Bedard and Reichel together, i feel like at this stage both guys would need a heavy guy with them for the line to work. Donato seems like an interchangable guy who gets to dirty areas with impact so thats nice. Bedard will be super fine and in the Marchand mold, but i doubt Reichel every gets there legitimately.

Bedard isn't soft, Reichel is so-so but Kent Johnson definitely shies away from contact. It would be one of the softest lines in hockey.

Yup which is which Colton Dach for example worked so well in the preseason cuz of how he plays. Opens up alot of ice for the skilled guys and always goes to the net.

Yeah you need at least one guy one the line imo. Dach, Misiak seem to me as ones who can legit bang in the prospect pool and arent solely bottom six bound.

But we have quite a few who will be in the Marchand type skill but also impactful in the dirty areas - Bedard, Nazar, Moore.

I hope with the Tampa pick this year we can pick up another middle 6 PF type, like Chernyshev. Would round out our future top six boys nicely.
