Would be a great reason for me to trek to Detroit to see a Wings vs Hawks game. My half season Hawks ticket package this year didn’t include the Wings game, and since my practice stopped getting Wings season tickets last season, I didn’t see their game(s) there like I’ve done for almost 25 years.

One home and away game per year won’t be enough as these two teams start heating up again. Can only hope for a Cup finals matchup.

Same. The NHL realignment has taken a big bite out of that rivalry. And Chelios wanted to leave and go there, where Kane was basically told he isn't wanted by the Hawks. Can't hold any grudges against him if he goes there.

The Hawks only play the Wings twice a year. The rivalry is pretty dead.

If he went to St Louis or Nashville I'd be much more upset.

Yeah, the Wings were irrelevant almost throughout my youth and well into my adulthood. Just because there was a 10 year overlap of conflict doesn’t erase the other 40 years of pathetic Wings teams. And most of the great recent Wings teams the Hawks were terrible.

Now the Blues, on the other hand….NEVER!

They were up 3-1 thinking they were going to spoil our historic season, we ended up coming back and won the Cup that year to send them packing out of division/conference for good
