Yes, like most I had doubts but I thought Dach deserved more time as a Blackhawk- he could have matured into being a significant contributor to the rebuild. He could have still been dealt at a later date if necessary.

And Kubalik: I liked him more than most Hawks fans. I think the lazy label is wrong and to give him away for nothing was ridiculous. Stevie Y gladly snatched him up quickly as a part of Wings rebuild.
you would have tought he coulod have gotten something as a rental. no one wants to touch guys wth ARB rights. he signed for 2.5 what if he got 4.5 in ARB? But 4th or so for a rental last TDL would have seemed to make sense. I do get the impression that KD sets a price that is market and does not move off that much. maybe he thought a 2-3 was fair for strome and 3-4 was fair for Kubalik and Dehaan 5th-6th no retention and his offers were 4-5 strome. 5-6 for kubs and only could trade dehaan with rentention. on the one side 4-6th for guys you let walk is better then nothing, but it sets a bad precedent for a young GM.

Man, I can't help but think what Richardson would be doing with last year's team.

I am still a Kubalik fan and still think he's capable of 40 goals if used properly.
Richardson wouldn't have broken Kane's slump to start the year, MAF letting in beachballs, and Jones and McCabe playing way too tight.

That said, keeping Strome out of the top 6 would have made other teams try and that could have been good.

Let's see him put together a full season before panicking. He's also playing RW now, right?

Yes, he was fine at C (although awful in the circle) but the Habs have very few legitimate top 6 players so they decided to just put the best 3 together. Definitely needs to put a full season together, the Suzuki line is riding a really hot shooting % stretch right now but Dach has been good for those who still root for him.

Dach is scoring in close, don't think any of the 4 goals were more than a few feet from the blue paint. Unless he's gonna turn into Pavelski, he's still going to struggle with being a perennial 20 goal scorer.

Though scoring was never the biggest part of his game. His passing, which was off seemingly every time last season, is connecting a lot more now. His hand might be healing up enough where it's not hindering him.

Hawks need Nazar to turn into a top 6, preferably top line, guy for a long while to make that deal seem reasonable. Sucks that he's out for who knows how long; hopefully he comes back strong.

Ya, I didn't think his shot was that bad coming out of Saskatoon. I think the wrist injury made it worse.

I still think we should have held on to him, but also a high possibility that what he is doing now (and potentially on the year) he would have never done here in Chicago, so, meh.
