Just pointing out that Pope doesn't seem to understand the difference between Trochecks value to a team and Stromes. So this is the new Strome appreciation thread, right?
Apparently Ben Pope hasn't seen either of these guys play. Either that or he has absolutely no clue about the game.
Trocheck had one season over sixty points and it was five years ago. 1C upside? Nah bud.Yeah, Trocheck is far better all-around player who has been far more consistent thru his career (Even with the injuries)
His peak upside also is higher than Strome's though may never reach it again after the injury that in many ways derailed his promise as he looked the part of a potential #1C years ago in Florida

Not sure he ever would have been a #1, but injuries have hampered his career. And he's definitely a far superior player to StromeYeah, Trocheck is far better all-around player who has been far more consistent thru his career (Even with the injuries)

The GM (to me) has done pretty good so far. This team is gonna be garbage, we have another horrendous GM. We are gonna be stuck cupless for a few decades if things don’t change drastically…
Ya just like when Stan did well according to most at this point last year and I was laughing at themThe GM (to me) has done pretty good so far.
Try being factual (a stretch for you but … try) I was never a Bowman fan. Disagreed with the premise on which he was hired/promoted.Ya just like when Stan did well according to most at this point last year and I was laughing at them
Stats people would say that your eyes lie to you.Because all these "Fancy" stats are almost entirely nonsense and player evaluation still is actually watching games not looking at #'s
People with eyes can see his flaws as clear as day and no "Model" is going to change that
A lot of times they contradict each other. Strome is a good example of that. The majority of people who ONLY use the eye test or advanced stats won't be correct. They go hand in hand to tell the story.
As for Strome - he HAD to play with Kane and Cat here or else he was useless and seemed to just act fed up if he didn't get the minutes he wanted.
That's what his body language said on the ice, at least. So the stats won't tell you that bit.
Which is why you need both. Because often, the truth lies in the middle.A lot of times they contradict each other. Strome is a good example of that.
