The good thing about the orange man in the US being elected is that maybe we Canadians will get off our butts and start to square away our issues. A major wake up call. This tournament should also be a wake up call to Hockey Canada in regard to making the game accessible to everybody and developing more talent.

Freedom of speech. He has every right to wear that.

And people gave every right to tell him what a f***ing mook he is lol.

Remember that in 2010 Lu replaced Brodeur.
On one hand I was excited, on the other one I was freaking out a little: what if he doesn’t do well and costs Canada the tournament? His confidence would be shot and Canuck fans would never hear the end of it.

Didn’t really matter, he won and then played some of his worst hockey in Vancouver that playoffs. The gold was fun.

Again though, we can't expect our goalie to get a shut out for us to get a win. This is 2011 scf argument all over again. You can't win when you score 1 goal. Score more goals.

It’s laughable trying to equate this to 2011. Binnington hasn’t stood on his head to win us 3 games. Hell he has let in at least 3 soft goals in two games even if you don’t want to count the game winner against the USA.

Again sure the team should score more goals… but if your goalie lets in two brutal goals… yeah the loss is on him.

He also had two shutouts in the Finals but stunk like sh*t at home in that same series. Split-personality case there in a way.

I think you mistyped "away". Boston was nightmare palace. But yeah, Luongo...played lights out game 1 5, ok in 2 3. shit in 4 6 7. It was always a mixed bag with him, but I was here for it. We overdid it before game 7. It from game 3 seemed like a "win in 6 or out in 7" series. Team was f***ing gassed as shit from all the unnecessary travel from not locking down prior series. Lessons that should have been learned from the past that never got properly learnt. I only say OK in game 3 instead of "shit" because he knew what was going on. That must be at least top 10 material for poorest defensive performances I've ever seen and we were playing with 5 of our most banged up guys.

Honestly, the dives I've done on the tape would drive the regular person more insane than I. Many drunken nights between 2011-15 studying every pixel of the YouTubes. I had it down to the f***ing microseconds. Alberts I had already shit on since his coming, but had played decently down the stretch so I was cool with his deployment at least. Ballard, I went to bat for the guy all season but he was like a lost dog out there god bless him. Knee and all he'd be in the wrong place faster than anyone. But the more I went over the tape, like 3 or 4 could be pinned to this unfortunate pairing.

I wish Ballard well, he was dynamite before the knee surgery. I got to see his first NHL game and you could've easily seen the resemblance between he and Hughes, but Ballard's shot was way more dynamic. Everyone was raving about him after the game. I thought him and Ohlund were the best two defenders that game.

Great f***ing team, but if you shut down only 2 of our players that was 75% of the offense right there. Didn't matter if it was Kesler or the Sedin line. Shut one of them down and the series became a grind and they never figured out how to click at the same time. I still think if we've swept even just Nashville which was a distinct possibility considering we were in every game of that series, we'd have been able to win the Cup based off of less travel from the extra trip to Nashville itself.

This team is just different because Demko is different from Luongo in that, right now I haven't seen Demko ever quit on a puck before the whistle...and we have the potential to run 4 half-decent hockey lines and have a Bobby#4-style defenseman on the backend.

We half-assedly met the Boston model in the most hilarious, tragic way...but isn't that the Canuck way? This team is a f***ing joke in the best possible way. Honestly, I don't know if I can ever not be here for it. This team tortures me and I come back for more, even crazier than I was before.

Biggest news to come out of the Four Nations so far? Injuries to Matthew Ttkachuk and Shea Theodore, which might force them to miss games down the stretch in the NHL.

Vegas and Florida must be doing 'slow burns'. Thank God Quinn Hughes skipped this tournament. Without him down the stretch, the Canucks would probably be 'dead in the water'.
Question. What's up with the 'Quotation Marks'?

I don't think they mean what you think they mean.

Maybe its the AI getting confused. Are you running OpenAI or DeepSeek?

Binnington is bad, not a good choice.... BUT, the dude did only let in 2 goals, while assisting on Canada's 1..

I think based on the options available if you aren't comfortable going with Binnington in Finland, aight, but at least give him the Boston game. I personally would've gone Hill to start. A Hill is a good place to die on. BUT. You've come this far, just play Binnington thru f***. He feeds on hate. That's something.

At least it's an ethos, I suppose.

I don't see finland winning in any other fashion than on OT after a game of fortunate bounces, no matter who is in canada's net.

Though it would be super funny if Matinpalo scores the winning goal like Utunen did in world juniors' that one year.

That is what small minded people do. Kind of like Philly fans.
What are we doing here? There's national pride and then there's what that tool is doing in a time where there is large animosity and threats of sovereignty. Whatever insults he got thrown his way, he deserved it and if he had any sense, expected it.

Canada has this in the bag if they stop trying to make the cute play, every play. Binnington wasn't bad last game but the goals weren't great - US goaltending was the reason they won. Canada has a bunch of high danger scoring chances and Hellebuyck was a stone wall.

Still rather shocked the Canadian team is having problems scoring goals. I thought with the collection of talent they’d be putting up at least ~4 goals per game or something.

Binnington has been bad for a few years. We should have selected Thompson for goal.
Tom Wilson should be on the team too. He’d be great on McDavid’s wing.
Two huge misses.

Yeah I've tried therapy to excise the memories of 2011 so thanks for helping me remember that season. ;)

But yeah, had Luongo even played close to that level in one of those away games (as he generally did at home), I seriously think he would've been in consideration for the Conn Smythe (especially given his virtual lack of support offensively up front).

Somewhere along the way, he lost that confidence. I remember that memorable playoff series against the Stars years earlier when Turco had like *THREE* shutouts against us but we still managed to win that series. His play seemed to have exorcised all memories/past events with Dan Cloutier for me (back when no matter how big a lead we had; it was NEVER safe). A time when a one goal lead was enough. Forget any possible injury issues with Elias. I wonder if the problem is between his ears much like it was with Luongo? Forget just improving the doctors...maybe the Canucks should hire better therapists.

"We half-assedly met the Boston model in the most hilarious, tragic way"

That seemed the issue with Vigneault. Brilliant in setting up a "battle" but inept in adjusting when the enemy makes countermoves. But maybe that's just me.
