No 'A' for Hughes? Unlike Finland and Sweden, USA goes with 2 alternates instead of 3 and go with two non-NHL captains over Captain Hughes.

USA literally made the worst possible choice for Captain. Matthews hasn’t shown he can lead his way out of an empty room with one exit.

Hughes getting no letter is stupid, but Matthews getting a letter at all is ridiculous.

There is only one man suited for replacing Heiskanen, he just needs to be woken up first.

This might be controversial, but Hughes is too quiet and soft spoken to captain team USA, especially at a gimmick tournament like this. The league wants personalities and catchy soundbites to milk the sh*t out of.

They need to pull Hughes out of the tourney, he's already playing with an injured hand or wrist.

And if Pettersson has a chronic injury, as some people speculate, pull him out too.
